I had the same experience as you in Clear Lake and the creek by camp. My daughter and I both caught a Tiger Trout in Clear Lake, which was a nice treat. Most were small. I did get a decent Brookie behind family camp, maybe 10". Everything I caught was using a stimulator. My daughter got hers...
I don't want to hold people up and based on my past history of getting out town on time. I'm not likely to depart when I want to. Plus, I drive really slow towing my trailer. Just trying to get a sense of whether or not I will see the TX caravan passing me on 550. If I leave by 7:30, there is a...
Just an FYI, that campground is in the Santa Fe National Forest. The entire SFNF has been closed to all access since June 1 due to fire danger. They are supposedly lifting the restrictions on Monday but you should still be prepared just in case the forest remains closed and/or the campground...
You do not need your own compressor to get by at HIH. Having your own is nice but not a necessity since so many people will have some kind of air up capability. Depending on your trails and how much pavement driving you will do, you'll likely just stay in the low-20's the whole weekend. One...
FYI, it's about 200 miles from Moriarty to Bloomfield, which is a full tank of gas when I'm towing something (or really loaded down) and I'm close to running on fumes. If you want to play it safe, I'd recommend stopping at a truck stop/casino that is just northwest of Cuba called the Apache...
I'm back to driving up from ABQ on the 12th. But I don't know that I will be able to get out of town early enough to be in Durango by noon. I have to go pick up my camper from my dad's place in the south part of town that morning and then attempt to get the whole crew moving and out of the...
The last time I 'borrowed' a tool from Autozone I actually had to pay for it up front and then got a refund when I brought it back. So technically, it's free.
Sure the white letters on the outside look cool, unless you actually wheel your cruiser. Then they look like hell after just a couple of trips because the white paint is getting scraped and scrubbed off by sharp rocks and dirt. And it instantly reduces your off-roading credibility with the...
@aaronrules Double-check the amount of mountain passes you'll encounter with the 16h 51m route. I've never traveled that route but my knowledge of the mountain ranges makes me think that's the one with the most mountain driving. The longest route will probably be the easiest pulling a trailer.
I camped next to that pond. I never saw any signs of fish, despite looking at it many times last year. It looked really shallow. A pond like that during a particularly buggy part of the year should have at least shown some signs of fish rising.
Your preferred methods will have a big impact on where to fish (bait, artificial, fly rod, spinning, bait casting, etc.). You can fly fish the river right next to camp but the conditions are tough due to the fast moving water and gravel bottom. You can head up the river and find some side creeks...
