I seem to have ticked you off...Sorry 'bout that. Meant it more as a joke than anything. I'm completely aware of how hard it is to recover and/or fix rigs in the middle of nowhere. Given where you play, it's just more likely that rigs will become seriously mired or broken.
If they're going where Mark has been wanting to for the last few years, they'll probably be up the Chistochina River somewhere. It's a little late now though.
Nope...I generally make it a point to drive straight through...Tok's not high on my priorities list. You can make Whitehorse from either Fairbanks or Anchorage in one day pretty easily.
Edit: A fun side trip to make on the way back might be to drive to Haines and take the hour ferry ride over...
How are you planning to get back south? Are you going to drive all the way, or are you going to take the ferry at all?
If the ferry, and you find yourself in Juneau, let me know!
I assume you're planning to spend the night in Fairbanks sometime?
If you want a really nice campground I highly reccomend the campground on University Road right where it crosses the Chena River. Easy to find, close to everything (go to the museum at the University), really nice place. Not...
If you're turning people away, let it be known they can have my spot. I've been doing the math and I just can't get my rig ready in time with the resources I have available. It's amazing how much college will destroy a 'cruiser budget...
Anyways, if anyone has a passenger's seat open I may or...
Does anyone else get a perverse pleasure out of handing tourists a bottle of Ben's 100 and telling them not to get it on their clothes? The expression on their faces gets me every time.
I would imagine trailering from California wouldn't be much of a problem if you have the time. The ferries are mentioned because they're a very scenic, and relaxing, way to make the trip up here.
As far as tow rigs go, if you can drive your '40 on the street, the tow rig would be best left at...
I forgot about that rig, I need to point a friend up here your direction. He drove down to Kenai this summer just to check out a pig (that he ended up not buying). For you lower-48-anites reading this thread, that's about 500 miles each way.
I was referring more to the comment of bringing a gun and a dog...When mine got her hands on a moose leg (after we'd taken our meat off), she didn't even look at her food bowl for 3 days! She just camped out at that leg and if she wanted to be anywhere else, she'd take the time to drag all 50+...
I'd like to think I have a little bit of experience with that ;)
Is there any possibility that somebody towing up would be willing to haul a set of tires (and maybe a roof rack) up with them?
What's the situation with on board air? Would it be safe to assume there are enough adequate...
