The day started out with a bang, well, more like a thunk-screech and then a bang. I offered to tow Chuck's Offroadkill p/u to the meeting place. 1/4 mi. down the hwy., just as I started to accelerate for the run up the dynomometer hill, the left Rr wheel fell off the p/u. It rolled across the...
Sat. after T-day gathering
Some of the local Toyota guys and some other friendlies are gettin together to see what Sand Hollow has to offer by way of Rock Crawling We are meeting at the Washington Dam @ 9AM on Sat morning. Once we've joined up and aired down we'll tear over the top of the park...
I'll be there for a bit, but I don't know how long I can stay. The "little" Brother brought the Lap Dog down this time so I have to trail 'em out an let 'em sniff around and get aquainted. After that, me and the Alpha Dog have this tree that needs some attention up north of there ;)
Any word...
Are those guys from wildyoats gonna be at Sand Hollow?
The Red Mountain Trail will be a blast with some more people along. For those of you that are interested, once you get out on Red Mountain there's a huge slickrock area and we haven't found our way across it yet. It's said you can drive...
I can't believe hammerhead hasn't been on here yet to boast. I won't spoil it for him though.
The motor we installed runs great. I have to learn how to drive a truck motor again though. This motor doesn't rev like the Monte Carlo motor I've been running.
In my last post I mentioned that I was going to put a "new" engine in my 'Cruiser. Contrary to my original plan, the Targetmaster now resides in my FJ. We breathed life into it this afternoon, and hammerhead was going to take it for a spin this evening. I had to pull a 12 hour night shift...
Out of action
Ever since I came back from Easter in Moab my truck has been getting a little bit weaker and run a lil bit hotter. Well, it finally took a dump on me and died partway up the driveway. I got it fired up again and had to use the Rockbox to limp the rest of the way up.
It might...
The way things stand right now, we won't be able to leave for Moab until Tue. morning. Finding a primo camp will be a little harder, but, not as hard as later in the week. The event gets bigger, more unregulated camping areas close and open areas fill up sooner. Sand Flats used to be unregulated...
The renegade run is a good idea for building up the enthusiasm of the rest of the group. When you get home and rave about how much fun we had it might get more attention. We understand that no one knows us and we can't wait to hook up with more cruiser people.
Whatever happened to the idea of putting together a wheeling/camping trip to Dixie in Feb. ??? It'll be alot of fun whether we choose to meet at the new State ORV Park, Red Mtn., Or the new trail we are pioneering, or all of the above. I need to know soon so I can schedule disabling my truck and...
Red Mountain Trail is rough, but any stock FJ40 can do it without fear. I don't have any experience with 55's, 60's and such. The first part of the trail is rock city. Larger tires are a big plus for ground clearance. Next would be PS. A locker would be icing on the cake. There is a big sand...
Let's not forget about sand hollow either. There's camping all over.
The Red Mountain Trail has been closed in the past but was recently reopened by the secretary of the interior. We haven't done it yet but it was recomended to us by an avid wheeler and respected 4x4 builder.
Hammerhead just told me about this ...shout out thread last night. The Miller Hill trail-ride sounds fun. I haven't been up in that area for 20+ years. Wish I could go, but I have to work this weekend.
Utah guys SHOUT OUT!
Hammerhead and I did our usual Monday ride to a trail that hasn't had...
