So who has installed some eye bolts as anchor points on their rack using the T-nuts? I'd really like to see pics/description of what you did. Need something substantial on mine to ratchet strap stuff to the rack. thanks in advance all you Bowfin experts!
got these stout awning brackets from Patrick added onto the rack. Forgive the Christmas lights. Somebody tell me if I have them on upside down. I'm convinced you could pick up the truck by this rack!
Got longer square U-bolts (beefier too) from good ol' Ace and put a packasport on top. Solid as a rock. These roof boxes out of Bend, OR are all fiberglass, bullet proof, and last forever. This one is probably about 15 years old. You can also re-paint them. Next time it'll be Georgia...
Finally got my Bowfin on the truck. I can take my truck through the carwash for the first time in a couple of years! Right after, cruising on the highway, heard a couple of "THWANGS" when I'd hit a bump. Went wheeling yesterday about 50 miles of dirt with no issues till the last ten miles...
Patrick I noticed here that in this pic your rack only has two center cross pieces on it. what have you been haulin? Also, we are enjoying watching that loaf of break Lab puppy grow.
Patrick, I think lots of us would agree that you're doing one helluva job! I couldn't believe the quality of materials and the quality of design in the rack that I got from you. When I told my friend this was designed by a guy out of his home shop he was astounded.
Got mine together this weekend. Talk about a no-fuss assembly. Great labeling of bolts and nuts and even left and right sides and clamps all labeled appropriately!
That’s 12-ft minimum length of canoe / kayak to NOT rest on the rear of the roof before you roll it onto the rack right? most canoes at least are 15-16 ft and most kayaks start at 10 or so...
Patrick could you put up a pic of what you're thinking of using for the canoe roller at the back of the rack? you mentioned a 3-inch bumper roller whatever that is? thanks
has anyone put one of the Thule or Yakima boxes on their Bowfin rack? interested to know if it works as most of the boxes are a little recessed where they clamp to the cross bars normally. Wanting to know if it'll still clamp on with all the Bowfin bars still in place.
