I keep going back and forth between 0 and -10 offsets. I think something like a +5 would be perfect, but there aren't many wheels worth purchasing that come in that size. The RPT-1s look great though!
It's been a while since I've had tires done at Costco but I think they instituted a policy where they won't even mount tires to wheels if they aren't an approved OEM size. Guess it depends on the store too whether or not they're willing to take that risk with liability.
Did some light trailing/camping over the weekend. Drove up to Mattole Beach on the Lost Coast and camped for two nights in the wet (again). This time with 100% more Rivian. The Dobinsons IMS suspension I put in the week before really seems to like medium speed impacts - it just shrugs them off...
Dobinsons IMS 2" front and rear. C59-302 front (comfort spring rate) and C59-327 rear (medium duty) springs. I have plans to add weight to the rear, so that's why it's sitting so high right now. Limited miles since alignment, so judgement is still out as to whether or not it's what I need, but...
Oh interesting, did you add the Prado rocker covers or did the previous owner?
In other news, put my lift on today. About 6 hours total, about 1 hour of which was spent fighting a rear coil.
Yeah it's one of those things where we can't be completely certain as manufacturing tolerances really dictate what fits and doesn't fit. I had 265/70/17 Rubitreks as well and they fit without any mods. Barely, but they fit. Anything under these are almost sure to fit, but yeah.
A camera does not make the photographer! I spent years learning on a 50mm and a Canon Rebel XS. Small cameras are great places to start because you end up taking them more places and actually doing the photography, so you learn faster. Sometimes I don't bring out a camera because of size or...
OH yay photography nerds. Cell phone cameras have great processing, which is why they work so well. Pixel binning like you said with the super high density sensors, but honestly nothing beats a big sensor. Every time I used my APS-C over a full frame, I always feel like I'm missing something...
Honestly, I don't know yet. I love the Sierras, but I'm still very new to off-roading and learning what to do. It's why I have minimal mods and still figuring out what I want/need. Just trying to use the truck as it sits and go places instead.
That being said, I think the Mammoth area? Plenty...
Another weekend in the Sierras - probably the last one for a while as temps have dropped. Friday night was a low of 10°F and made for an interesting sleeping situation overnight. Also found some rocks.
Drove out to the Black Rock Playa in northern Nevada to see the annular eclipse. It wasn't quite 100% where we were, but it was pretty close. Also had to change a tire on the playa. Don't be lazy like me and air down lol. Also I need a taller bottle jack.
There's actually apparently some software limitations that don't allow it to act like a truly locked truck when crossed up - something about it still having logic about the front and rear being "axles" and trying to pull power instead of limiting or removing slip.
Something they're working on...
A rainy Plumas National Forest/Tahoe National Forest trip. Drove from Gold Lake to Bowman Lake mostly offroad with a bunch of friends. Things I've learned - a Subaru Baja can keep up if the driver is sendy enough and that you cannot keep up with a Rivian R1T if he decides he wants to leave the...
