I just put brand new CVs in and when I installed them, I added the molly grease after attaching the CV to the inner shaft (then I read that you're suppose to add to the CV before attaching) either way I want to get some extra molly grease in there asap.
I bought a new nozzle for mine. It is adjustable so I can regulate the tension around the nozzle. Today I plan on topping off the bifs with molly grease. What could go wrong..
I am happy to report that I have extracted both broken zerk threads and replaced them with new nozzles without having to drop the drive shaft. Final tally, three hours, a slightly bruised ego, about a hundred bucks and a deeper appreciation for the mud community.
I appreciate that. I just bought new zerks, a puller and new adjustable nozzle for the grease gun. I originally thought that I would be saving myself some money by doing this myself and not running to Jiffy Lube. Now I will need to perform about 10 lubes before I break even.
I'm inclined to follow your advice. Won't grease fly out of that little hole when the shaft spins? Do you know what size zerks these are? (I think they are called zerks). Thanks- Dan
Thanks
This is gonna be a real PITA getting the inside nipple. I really don’t want to drop that shaft.I don’t understand how a quick PM can turn into such a pain!
Yes I f-d up the on the inside too! I put oil on it and cleaned it up before attaching the grease hose. I need to fix that one too and that is way less accessible.
I also messed up the nipple on the inside of the u joint. Damn it
I see there's some posts about it. I was just so pissed at myself. A ten minute PM task is now a project. I knew I shouldn't have bought the cheapie molly gun.
What the hell am I suppose to do now?
The nipple broke off of the U joint on the drive shaft??!!
It was stuck to the gun, I gave it a yank and now there’s just a spring. I can’t even get the nip out of the gun.
