    2024 GX/Prado Release and Discussion

I totally agree on the Bronco NVH characteristics, but since the LC250 is also a BOF, what can Toyota do to make the ride "more refined and composed", better spring and shock tuning, softer sway bars? etc.? You still have a 6,000 lbs tow rating that sets some minimum those things can be. I'm...

    2024 GX/Prado Release and Discussion

Ford for the Bronco and Toyota for the Land Cruiser looked at market requirements and did not see a need for solid axles. I was looking at Broncos, until I saw how poor of quality they are, but saw a bunch of people mention, I looked at and drove Jeeps but didn't want the harsh ride and death...

Put it this way, if it were an option, the take rate would be less than a manual transmission, maybe 5% - 10% of sales. Enthusiasts are a small percentage of overall sales. Auto manufactures know Noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) are much more important to the majority of the buying public.

When I look up the brake diameter for the 300 I'm finding 13" - 14", I'm not sure what is correct for the 300, do you know? The reason that is key, the 250 has 17" brakes so with the caliper it looks like 18" wheels are the minimum.

That was my first thought, go straight to 17" wheels for taller sidewalls with better tire compliance. But like we saw on the GX and now confirmed by the LC press release, "all models feature 17-inch disc brakes front and rear". Stock wheel/tire size is 265/70R-18, 33-inch tires. So it looks...

The comparison is little deceptive due to the parallax angle of the photos. I estimate the front is about 2" shorter and the rear is about 1" shorter, for the total difference of about 3".

@Jetboy had another take, he wanted the front shorter on the GX, now you know why it is so long, the LC got lopped off.

Look in the yellow circle on the right for the air gap at the bumper, between the blue lines.

The difference is in the front and rear overhangs, the LC 250 has shorter front and rear overhangs for better approach and departure angles.

Did anyone else look in vain last night after the Global 9pm EDT reveal for the promised Toyota USA 9:20 p.m. EDT Reveal? Well, someone could not tell the difference between am and pm and they released it at 9am this morning. :hmm:

Was this pic only from the video or did you find a link for it on the Toyota Japan website? I've hunted around at toyota.jp for it with no luck.

I was curious about complete dimensions since Toyota only published the LC 250 dimensions for the length, width (with mirrors) and height. Previously I had calculated some of the missing dimensions for the GX 550 to get a complete picture. Below I've combined the known information and calculated...

Did anyone else read more about the "vehicle stability control" (VSC), I've googled it and no reviews discuss it. Has Toyota or Lexus used this on any other models under different names, akin to "Rollover Control" or something?

I'm having a hard time understanding how Toyota is positioning the Land Cruiser, it slots above the 4Runner to be the premium BOF for Toyota yet there is no mention of X-REAS or any Adaptive Suspension, either basic or premium. Did I miss it among the multitude of reviews?

I'm sorry you don't understand how auto manufacturers use social media and automotive forums. They will reach out to a few enthusiasts and pass along tips and information to help feed the buzz engine of new releases, this is why most brand model forums have a "Speculation" thread. Yes, those of...

Ironic, you blast every post with "rumors or speculative insider information leaks", demanding you need official leaks from Toyota to tell you what it is and is not. Now, Toyota says, hold my beer, releases an official leak, 16 hours ahead of the reveal, and you say "It’s use has been rumored...
