That’s how bud made it. Just like a lock washer gets compressed to reduce the chance of the bolt backing out. The skid itself is a gigantic lock washer that pushes against the the rear fasteners. That way you limit the possibility of the fasteners coming loose when bombing down desert trails...
BB skids are comparable with Slee sliders. I had Slee sliders originally, and then moved back to the East coast where I reconnected with Bud to make skids for my 200. So we know that combo works.

Thanks to everyone while we got this up. As you guys have said, the skids are pretty easy to install, but here is a super detailed install video for everyone in the future.
Replace one at a time.
So you’ll probably still need a floor jack, but that is to get one of the bolts out.
How I do it (and the instructions will say) is you will loosen both passenger side factory transmission crossmember bolts and set the factory nuts aside.
Then side out one of the factory...
Just turn that heat shield around/the corner with the cut out faces the rear of the truck. That way it provides clearance for the front factory fuel tank strap.
