Had the 22R on my last truck (an 86) - vastly underpowered. While I agree that fuel economy is not ideal in the 5VZ, I've never (ever) experienced 13mpg even on a bad day. Average fuel economy on mine, fully loaded, is between 17 - 18. Empty and on the highway - 21 - 23. But, with fuel prices...
Amazing when you're only pulling the weight of the truck. Once you load it down with lots of heavy expo goodies, reaching fifth gear can be the human equivalent of scaling the Inca Trail to reach Machu Picchu.
i.e., bulletproof yes, strong no.

Got it. Actually I got on your build thread and discovered how the truck evolved. Great read, great ride! Very happy with my set up, and the spacers certainly did the trick.

Adam,
Great truck. Are the (20mm) spacers OME? I have some 10mm on order, and am hoping they are enough to address the fender rub I'm experiencing right now.
Also, I notice in your pics that you go back and forth between the mud terrains and a/t's. Do you switch them out for different rides...
BKG - you mean the single cab V6? Coulda shoulda woulda! :-) Mine only had 20 on the odometer when I bought it. I've only been throwing expo parts on it recently.
Great truck. No regrets.
