    Mostly correct! A non broken bolt got squeezed between case and idler, cracking the case from the inside out.

    Good question. I don't plan on wheeling it very hard, so no I won't be. And... I'm pretty sure the t-case saver and nose rings wouldn't have helped me in this situation. Here's pictures of the evidence. I know what happened, can anyone else figure it out? Here's a hint, it's a bit embarrassing.

    Thanks, I had reviewed that, but didn't help me much. I couldn't make out the difference between the early 70's and later 70's cases. So I'm not sure what I have. Unless someone else's eagle eyes can point it out to me.

    I'm trying to identify the year of my transfer case. I know it is not the original transfer case. The case is cracked and I am intending on replacing it with one from a 1979 FJ40. I'm trying to make sure I can just switch everything over to the 1979 case, and trying to determine which rebuild...
