Definitely source a later model nv4500 with the closer gear ratios. 1st is really too low for non towing situations. The gap on the early ones is too big between 3rd and 4th. I don't think it is exceptionally better in the later models. The 6 speeds are definitely nicer ratio-wise. I have a g56...
There is a good thread in the diesel section1hd-t intercooler or something like that. My bread van has the same after-cooler and no issues with melting hoses- not sure what the configuration is- that reminds me- I haven't started it in a couple years...
17 is the worst off-road and on slow rough dirt roads. 19-20, occasionally 21-3. I am running 35's and an NV4500. Yes, the 4bt is rough, I would hesitate to do another 4bt swap but I really like driving what I have..
Look up " Nissan Titan diesel problems" and see what you find.. I like the idea of a new motor that has a warranty but a tried and tested engine model would be nice too. I am waiting on feedback on the 2.8 as well. There are a lot of complaints About the Tunland (which has the 2.8) but in some...
I've been noticing mine isn't reading as high as it used to, I wonder if the violent nature of the diesel takes its toll on the sender. I usually test the psi with a gauge and then I have a reference point. Cummins's and Toyota's specs for oil pressure are way lower than I like to see. I'm...
Just keep it topped off I guess, as long as it's not pouring out of the t-case. Using the right oil is an issue all-in it self. I'm using amsoil nv4500 rated in the t-case and GM oil in the tranny.
No, I won't disregard!
20's is possible. 30's if lightened, lowered, 6 speed transmission, magnetic fuel filter, 2wd conversion, H20 hydrogen generator, Mexican high BTU diesel and a tail wind.
Put 3000 pounds of weight in the TDI donor rig before you do the swap and practice real-world driving like pulling out in front of a Semi-Truck on the freeway.
Keep us posted..
You have to stuff a large object into the intake when you want to shut it off.
OK, most old-school diesels have a 1-wire run feature which allows fuel to travel to the injectors. Some engines have a control system for pollution control and easier starting involving glow plugs or intake...
Search here and see who has done what. You might want to sound dampen while you are at it but you already are used to a certain noise level. I would go with an OEM clutch pedal bucket, I fabricated one and it took too long. The split case takes up room a little sooner in the frame where it is...
Awe come on!
So what if its off topic?!
So take this-
1. 1994 fzj80 cloth interior, purchased with a bad tranny, 6800 lbs loaded for a weekend trip w/3 kids 5300 lbs unladen w/ no passengers.
2. 4BT 105hp, rebuilt injectors, fuel pump and playing with turbo's (currently a H1C...
