    Smog'd no... Visual inspection yes.... Once it's registered as a diesel that is... That's the tricky part, and where CA seems to make things difficult for most. Again there are some easier ways through then others. Research is your friend. -A

    The way I understand it: Same year as the body or newer on the engine swap. Engine must be from the same "class" in CA for a "legal" swap. This is where it gets tricky in CA. The 6bt is / was in a 3/4 & 1 ton truck. Not in a "Wagon" or "station wagon". Take a look at your reg and see how...

    Haven't heard of the BMW being done... The Merc is a viable option... I think the older ones are inline 5's and maybe even a 6.... That's been my plan if I ever do it and stay in this forsaken state... -A

    Unmm smog and diesel don't generally go in the same sentence... Diesels have only recently started to have any emissions testing. And I didn't think AZ had any emissions testing at all? I could be wrong.

    Grumpy, Thats an awesome story funny how the older i get the smaller this world seems to be :-) I got to run a few trails back in the day with Dana and that rig. Good to see she lives on and is still in the hands of a Mud member :-) Cheers!
