What you need to know about 100 series aftermarket wheel options

After many searches, finally pulled the trigger on Method 705 on my 1999 LX. Unlike my 01 LC, I wanted to retain original suspension set up (AHC) and try to keep as stock as possible. So, was looking for little improvement /larger size tire. Came upon 705s on Craigslist and newish 285/65/18...

Solution for front hubs sticking out past wheel center caps

@cryptyk Appreciate you on your 3D file! I got some 705s and looked up method website and it was same spec as 703. So, had family friend print me couple out and it worked out perfectly. He used black plastic. Not exactly sure which version/type but says it hold better at higher temp. No...

    Horn issues

As always, you all saved me some grief, time and dough. My 99 LX's horn stopped working. I had an extra horn relay laying around, so I switched it and it worked and stopped again. So, after reading this thread, I tried the panic button and the horn went off. So, I figured/hoped it was just a...

How to: Replacing OEM Subwoofer in 3rd Row

There was nothing wrong with my OE sub....so, the new Kickers works well and sounds well but I would say it's hard to notice any major/significant difference. Maybe little improvement. Factory amp works well but not sure how it impacts it overall. I think if you have undamaged OE subs, I...

How to: Replacing OEM Subwoofer in 3rd Row

Following up. Got my replacement Kickers. Got it installed. All good to go. Here’s how I wired it. Here’s how it sits in the plastic sub OE box. Had to do little trimming of black plastic inside the speaker cover as the Kicker speaker sticks out a little more than stock:

How to: Replacing OEM Subwoofer in 3rd Row

In the process of installing a new sub in my 99 LX470. It's a standard Nakamichi system. I replaced the system with Sony AX5500 unit and Infinity Speakers (front and passenger doors). Didn't replace the stock OE Amp. So, I guess, only thing stock are the speaker wires and amp. In terms of...

    Timing Belt for Dummies writeup

Also, I had the air box out and used one of its bolt to hang couple large zip ties to hold the alternator and steering pump pulley. Didn’t want to strain any hoses or wires. I’m sure it was fine without it but why not and also kept it little away from all the mess.

    Timing Belt for Dummies writeup

Just completed TB job on a 99 LX. Did the 50 degree more (pulley bolt) after dead center. To help with keeping things lined up in case top camshaft pulleys jumped, I just ended up marking the new rested spots (50 degree past dead center) with black marker. When I took off the old timing belt...

Possible fake AISIN water pumps in AISIN timing belt kits

Starting to get parts ready for upcoming timing belt work. Never done it myself but after paying for 2, figured I would give it a try. Influenced by all of you, :) I ordered from Rockauto (ordered stuff from them before and they've been good). All other parts from Partsouq and waiting. Amazon...

    Thoughts on warping Rotors ?

For another reference point, my 99LX has 208K miles now. I replaced my front pads with new OE about 8K miles ago (6 months ago) as previous pads was wearing down. Didn’t replaced the rotor as it seemed fine. After installing new front OE pads, after couple weeks, I started to hear periodic...

    Nakamichi Update - '99 LX 470

Luckily no issues on the Sony head unit. This extension cord didn't have any pre-bends and Sony unit has about 3-4 inches of USB cables coming out (port) so it was easy/flexible to connect the PAC USB extension and electric tape it together and route it behind all the other stuff and didn't jam...

    Nakamichi Update - '99 LX 470

Thanks to PabloCruise and others on this. I replaced Nakamichi with Sony Ax-5600 this February. It comes with 2 USB outlets. The primary outlet is used for connecting the phone for CarPlay. I originally purchased an whatever brand USB extension from Amazon and CarPlay would only work every so...

Dual battery set up without using Slee tray?

When I had my 2001 LC (it didn’t have AHC), I made my own battery tray with aluminum sheet (.125). I don’t know how to weld so I wanted something easier to use and I found aluminum to be easy to bend, cut and drill holes with basic garage tools. It was cheaper than Slee but it wasn’t the main...

The ABCs of AHC - How to Measure, Flush, and Adjust all in one place

@IndroCruise, great reminder on the pencil test. I know these globes are expensive but since there’s real no good way to test these and even if they are good, it’s matter of time when it will go, so I went with new ones to get some peace of mind (IMPEX made it worthwhile vs paying dealer...
