1975 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 - $13K/OBO
This truck looks and drives better than many $10K trucks that I've seen, so I have priced it accordingly. This truck runs like a top and has been nothing but a pleasure to work on and drive. It easily cruises 70mph on the highway, tracking straight and...
That worked like a charm. Thank you! Brakes are done! I even got to re-purpose one of the scrap tubes from my tube-bending carnage pile (that's why there is a fitting on both ends). Here is a picture of the setup with the first short line attached and bent into the reservoir.
Not so fast. So, I was told that there are left and right (driver and drinker) cylinders and that they need to be installed as such. I didn't know this and just installed them with the adjuster on top at the front of the wheel and adjuster at the bottom at the back of the wheel. I was also...
I agree. This is the funny part. I installed the right side cylinders on the left and the lefts on the right! So, adjustment is reverse of what it should be....meaning the adjuster tool moves toward the axle to tighten rather than away from the axle. I was so confused. The inverse of...
I got the brake lines bent up, installed, and brakes bled. No leaks! Thank you for the parts suggestions and advice to get plenty of extra brake line for practicing. I only did the one side that was leaking...and now it pulls slightly to the serviced side when braking. Since the other...

Yep, my '75 is 10mm. Thanks all. I got everything cleaned up, new wheel cylinders in place. Now just waiting on the flare nuts and tool. I took the old, leaky cylinder apart and it was pretty rusty inside. Both boots had holes in them, likely from me trying to adjust the wrong end of...
Tearing (literally) into my front drums/wheel cylinders and I broke both of these brake tubes that go from the juncture to the wheel cylinders. They are discontinued from Toyota, and I don't know how to make brake line. I also checked online, and it appears that none of the go-to vendors...
