I don't have the option of the 300 in my country. The 250 being called "light-duty" does not make the 300 "heavy-duty". If you want that you need the real land cruiser 70 series.
Everyone hates on the new thing even before they see or drive one. As far as I'm concerned, the FJ80 was the last land cruiser in the US until the LC250. The 100 and on look like garbage to me.

I guess I'm one of the few Toyota is marketing for. I loved my FJ80 but decided to get rid of it for safety features like air bags, abs..etc, with my family. I would never consider the 100 or 200 series. They never looked good to me. When the 250 was announced it was a dream come true for me...

Looks like it does have that annoying sound. I just found this in the Owners Manual.

I don't have any experience with Hybrids. I could only find 1 video I found of it driving from the outside. It appears to sound like a metal grinding hum like a space ship. Is this something you can turn off on a hybrid? Video of sound.
