Finally done
Now time to do the center console and redo the seat mounts(literally the first welding I did on this truck) going to tie the cage in to them and the whole bit. Plus cup holders. Super exciting.
Also for those interested I’m making some long travel for the 4runner.
Pro welders close your eyes the engineer is behind the helmet😂
It held 50psi. I hid far away from it.
Radiator expansion tank
Top 2 go to the top of the radiator and the top of the engine
Bottom goes to the inlet of the radiator
Should auto burp the system. Also shouldn’t need an overflow...
Updates!
Creature comforts
Working windows
Switch panel from Auxbeam
Heat and defroster from vintage air almost tolerable aluminum welds
In my defense I have no idea what I’m doing
I think so. It was also out of phase by 1 spline seems a little better now that it is in phase
I might grease it up and see if that helps.
It is about 2” from fully collapsed so I am unsure adding length will help. But total travel is about 3”
Truck is back together runs and shifts better than it ever has before grinding noise is still there but I believe have found it, it is definitely the front driveshaft needs to be lengthened 2” because it is flopping like a fresh caught tuna
Also I don’t see any leaks either which is a first
All back together just tightening some bolts today
Just in time to give some people a ride over the holidays
Going to actually try to break in the clutch correctly this time
Last one appears to be glazed.
On paper it should last longer and shift better
Honestly manual transmission was fairly easy to put together obviously a few more moving parts and some special tools but hey I’m excited
Allegedly
Got talked into drag racing next year
Trans:
Rebuilding the trans that was in storage
New marlin thrust washer (recommended for builds with 300+ ft/lbs of torque)
New bearing retainer as well
The 1/2 gear slider is also reverse on these and the teeth are awful so I’m ordering a new one of those as well.
We will see if all this...
Update I’m an idiot. As per usual. New China calipers I used for the hydro hand brake are sticking. Enough that I noticed on flat ground. Probably why the clutch it already dead.
Not sure if it is a problem with them or the hand brake yet.
Another clutch died. Time to build the trans with the parts I have had laying around. Thinking about just going auto to be honest😂
Trailer is wider now, no more taking off tires to go wheel life changing to be honest
