    Builds 1st FJ40, '76 - SMOKEY - Puttin’ her Back Together

Months ago, Scott asked about my thoughts on a color change for his truck. I first told him it was his truck and he could do what he wished. My only request was that he stay within the "family" of Toyota colors. He then asked me what I thought about this color and that color and I was like blah...

    Homemade Hardtop Hoist

This is the third time I have mounted my hoist system since I first built it. I keep taking it with me everytime I move. The only problem I having is that my current garage ceiling height is about 8 feet and it is a tad too low. I need to try and flush mount my rigging on the ceiling so that...

    Roof restoration

@BuckMark I really like what the body shop did when they added a layer of fiberglass mat. I also really like the Raptor liner. It is colored cygnus white, it has a nice texture that can be easily cleaned. It has also added some sound deadening to the top as well. It is holding up just fine...

@hecrod I tried to IM you, but your mailbox is full. What seats did you wind up using? If you changed the seats now, what would you change to?

Builds 1979 FJ40 Old School Overhaul

Look at post #834, I have all the specs listed for both the tire and wheel. The wheel is Dexstar Conventional Steel wheel 16 x 6, 6 on 5.5. The back spacing is 3in or zero... because it is centered in a 6 in wide wheel. The hub diameter is to small and will need to be turned out to 4.375 in...

    Steel Wheel Tech

@G-Cat Thank you for posting my thread in here. I love finding better ways to saving money and to put in a little bit of work to what we need! Aka cheaper steelies! For me I found my information in one of @wngrog threads, as a matter of fact it was so long ago I had to IM him to refresh my...

So here is my take so far. The Dexstar rims are worth the effort! I bought 5 for $70 a piece. Went to the machine shop they charged me $20 a piece to turn them. I got $90 bucks in each wheel. Note: I have not put on hub cap clips. I believe they will cost maybe $24 dollars per wheel to do and...

It has been my experience...... I would spray Kroil on every fastener on my Landcruiser rust free or not. I would soak them quite a few times even if I was not ready to unbolt them yet. The biggest problem in my opinion is Mr Toyota used too small of fasteners and they break and twist off very...
