    Yet another overheating thread.

Is there anything I can do to solve a overheating engine on the highway at 55+ mph. Temps get up to and around 200-215. The truck cools down when stopped to about 190 and continues down to 180 if left alone. Also gets hot in stop and go. The going part is what makes it hot. This is a new-ish...

    Orion t-case gear mesh

I think I've encountered a slight problem while installing my gearset. They mesh and work fine, however the gear for the rear output is not fully meshing with the idler gear, it's about an eighth inch to the left of it. There are no gaps and I have installed both thrust washers with there...

Worn 4 speed transmission output shaft

77 landcruiser 4sp. in the process of changing out the transfer case and upon looking at the output shaft on the transmission it looks a little worn. so how much wear is too much? looks between .06 and .01. Also the wear is only on the one side. Thanks

    Bucking under load

Hello all, about a couple months ago my 77' would start to lunge under load around 3k rpms. The tach would drop to zero, and I would have to wait for it to settle before accelerating again. This problem slowly got worse and worse until it was undriveable anymore. I replaced the 32/36 weber with...

New Mc? New Booster? Still have bad brakes? Then I may have a solution.

At the end of my thread here:https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/98-tacoma-booster-into-a-77-40.823974/#post-9451054 I was left with a dilemma. I had run out of room to thread out my pushrod side MC and braking was terrible and I had to resort to using the E brake. After a little trial and error I...

    98 tacoma booster into a 77 40.

I've searched and concluded that a late 90's tacoma booster will directly bolt into a 40 without any mods and will work, however the first booster I received had an extremely hard pedal and I could not stop, so I figured the replacement was bad. Well the replacement of the replacement got here...

Speed loss due to tire change

I currently have 33" tires on my rig now and in 4th @2000 I'm rolling at 45mph. I have 4.11 diffs. Should I expect any major speed decreases with a 31" tire? Rig is a 4 spd, straight six 4 spd. My new speedo cable touched the exhaust so now I just rely on the tach, even though I have yet to redo...

    2f bellhousing

Are there any differences between a 2f bellhousing b/w a fj60 and fj40? I'm looking to buy a fj40 bellhousing cover but it might be off a fj60. Thanks

    Backfire issues.

About a month ago I lost my rotor to my unsecured cap on my dizzy. I thought I got the kinks worked out just fine when I got a new cap and rotor and my 40 was running like a dream. about a week later something caused my dizzy to spin 180(+,-) in the middle of traffic. We limped it home and...

    dizzy help

Driving today and I'm broken down. The distributer moved out of time on its own. I have oil pressure. It's on an 83 2f, with a dizzy that came from a 77 I believe.

    2f piston size

Would these pistons be from a stock 2f, my assumption it that they are not. 5 of the pistons say 48 and one says 50. I believe it has had a rebuild. Thoughts? Thanks

    Used engine...

Two days ago I received my most recent engine. We ran a compression test and the numbers came out ok @140-155. Today upon cracking open the oil pan I've discovered 3 slivers of metal, and a few flakes of metal through also. What should I do? This is the replacement of the replacement engine my...

    Probably something simple.

I own a 1977 landcruiser fj40. I recently did an engine swap to a 1983 engine. After assembling everything together I noticed an awful sound, I can't even think straight this noise is so loud. I have installed a new clutch I had the flywheel machined and I installed a new throw-out bearing...
