Finished up some of the last bits of my homemade wiring harness today. Installed three watertight relays in the engine compartment- one for cabin loads, one for the EDIC motor system (THAT WORKS!) and another to switch the power for the ARB air compressor.
Oh yeah, I see that now. It definitely has a low pressure pump, just integral to the high pressure.
Bypass your current fuel supply, fully loosen injector lines and see if you get any squirting.
If no squirting-
Have someone crank the engine while you hold your thumb over the inlet fuel...
I’ve been shutting the truck off with a piece of string through a pulley tied to the steering column. I’m a bit over that, so pulled the EDIC relay apart and found a small section of circuit board was broken.. since nothing appeared melted so I casually soldered this small section of wire on...
Hey all,
I've got my 83 BJ42 on the road at long last and things are looking sharp, however I've got a vibration at highway speeds and am looking for other thoughts on places to look. I've been working on this project a while and feel saturated- would be good to have other insights.
Here are...
Well, she's been on the road a couple weeks now. Super glad to have a running-driving cruiser back in my life. Still tons of little things left to do, but some more major milestones are knocked off.
- Had an exhaust made... I dont own a tube bender and with work, Covid19 and renovating my new...
Those were legitimate tru-trac tires- my understanding is that pirelli makes them now... ?? Not sure where to buy them or anything. They were 12.50-15 bias ply.
Things are looking up in the Landcruiser department! I fortunately/unfortunately bought a house so my January was totally eaten up with general household renovations. The good news is that the house has an enormous landcruiser-ready shop so my baby will be there soon.
I did, however, make some...
Looks great! I have used these before and have experienced a short life span. I think this is because charge voltage is around 26v. I have since switched to LEDs from Superbrightled.com that are in the 36v range and have had more success.
Roll bar is back from powder coating and installed this weekend. Only had a couple hours or so to work on it, so did what I could. Ran the engine up for the first time since building the harness and am pretty happy with it. Cycled the thermostat and got the Danhard heater bled out.. Wow is it...
You’re the man! Thank you. Looks like the little screw that causes the sparks is holding the plug to the regulator. Just going to tighten that up and convert to internal reg, as my external tests poorly. Thanks again!
Hi all, I'm having a charging issue with my 1983 BJ42 24v alternator and a photo of someone's stock alternator and wiring would be very helpful. My truck has a home built wiring harness, but using the factory regulator and regulator harness. I have ignition power to the reg when the key is on...
Not that my opinion matters, but when building my BJ42 I retained the 24v system and built my own wiring harness. 24v makes sense in my application for a winch and compressor. I deleted the centre tap system and have 24v H4 headlights and all other vehicle bulbs are 12-36v LED. For running a...
