I'm with you Paul. The fanciful notion of citizen justice would inevitably lead to a host of legal problems at a minimum, and much worse more likely. After all, these are just vehicles. However, the thing that chaps my @ss is that these justice systems out here on the left coast simply don't...
My FJ60 was stolen from out in front of my house several weeks ago. Last fall, after reading about all the thefts (I won't divulge all of my install details, other than to say - GPS tracker is your friend) I installed a GPS tracker. I got a motion alarm early one morning, which happens from...
Here's a thread from MUD (includes an awesome video of two dead cylinders brought back to life) of an FJ62 that was parked for a decade being brought to life. Lots of content on how he unstuck the valves.

You'll definitely be a metal repair guru when you're done. As for the engine, zero compression on 3 and 4 prolly means valves are stuck open. I'd think that unless the head gasket is totally blown out, you'd at least see a few PSI on cylinders with HG damage vs a big fat zero. Keep us posted...
My 2005 V8 4Runner has some extra emissions stuff in the valley along with the starter, so when I had to replace one of the vacuum valves for emissions, I had to take the manifold off to do it. While I had that opened up, I put in a new OEM starter even tho the existing one was working fine...
I had very similar considerations when I was thinking about a diesel swap in my 60. I have a rebuilt 2f (75K miles ago) + H55, and it's pretty nice. The 5 spd is the bomb, the 2F is tough as an anvil, but a little under-powered for my tastes. I'm not one of a SBC or non-Toyo swap, so after...
I'm planning the same swap. Have a 1HZ ready to go and an H55 that was mated to my 2F. Need to swap the transmission input shaft from the one for the 2F to a different one for the 1HZ. I think there are some other manual transmissions that will work with the 1HZ (R151 perhaps?) Wikipedia...
I have that exact GPS tracker in my rig. I hard wired it so the battery stays at 100% and it sends me a text when there's movement, plus when it leaves/returns within 1/10 of my house. Anywhere else, I get a location update every 30 seconds. I also threw in a small solar trickle charger on...
