As stated, I'll no longer comment on providing a warranty, it's no longer an issue.
I'm not Previa Diesel, by the way.
As for Linda's questions, they may assist in the repair of the truck, so I'd be happy to answer:
I had the radiator rebuilt back in January as it had a leak at the top...
Crushers, absolutely no warranty was inferred in the sale of the truck. As with any
private sale of a vehicle, it should never be expected. As per the handwritten sale agreement
the buyer requested, the truck was sold "as-is" and "as viewed" the day the buyer made me an
offer I accepted...
I just came across this thread, I've been working an not around much as of late.
I'm sorry to hear about the issues that Bev and Jack have had with the vehicle. I've been phoned, and just noticed 2 PM's looking for advice on the issue. Unfortunately, I don't know what to say.
I daily...
I'm installing a DRL relay in my LJ78 and was told by a mechanic to check whether or not the headlight switch provides power or ground to the headlamp circuit when switched on. Apparently this will effect how I install the last lead on my relay. Does anyone know, or can they supply me with...
For those who don't buy the headlight issue, here's a small figure to illustrate light dispersal patterns in a HID kid developed for RHD vehicles from TRD.
As you can see, it's not a simple adjustment, the entire light dispersal pattern differs.
I started this thread to document what I will be doing to comply with regulations, both by what I've researched, and with what the inspector will discuss with me. I also wanted to know if anyone has ad the same experience being contacted like this, to see what they had done.
Instead this...
I forgot to add, I'm going to see if a high mount rear lamp from a 93+ 4Runner will fit to the roof. I don't feel this is neccessary though, as my truck is a 1990, and Canadian trucks never had high mounts until 93 or 94.
I'm not going to assume anything, but I'm going to do the few modifications I know can't hurt. I think it will look good to the Ministry to see a truck that is at least making an effort to conform.
On a related note, does anyone know if there is a required height for the mounting of the marker...
Sorry, I should have mentioned. I'm in British Columbia. I plan on fitting new sealed beam headlamps and DOT marker lights on the quarter panels before I have the pleasure of meeting his majesty :D I had a provincial inspection done as required to register the vehicle in BC.
..in a round-about way. I was notified by the shop who inspected my truck that the Ministry would like to have a look at it regarding headlight issues. Anyone else been contacted this way ?
How can you possibly determine whether someone who sells a diesel vehicle is "legit" or not based on if they provide the buyer with driving lessons or not? I thought buying a used vehicle was "buyer beware." A pyrometer would have been a good way to inform her of the problem, but wouldn't have...
Just for reference, I'm not sure if this has been mentioned in the past 7 pages or not, but Toyota calls the 90915-YZZX# filters their MVP line or Most Valued Products (I think this is the name for the abbreviation!)
I'm going to give the truck a bit of a detail, so I'll pull out the tools and get a picture of both the pillar on the centre row, and the third.
If worse comes to worse, for some it might be an idea to throw belts in the back at least. I can't see myself doing this though.
On a related...
The hole isn't accessible from the back, but could be with some ingenuity. It's definately the only hole on the piller that could be used for a mount. As for integrity, I'd be careful.
