Stuck in Mexico! Trollhole Dizzy rotor and cap part number!?

The rotor and cap replacement was advised by our roadside mechanic. The cap and rotor did have a lot of dust and black (burnish) stuff in it. I cleaned it and changed the spark plugs. We got her sparking properly. I'd still like to buy spares, so the next time she acts up in the middle of...

Stuck in Mexico! Trollhole Dizzy rotor and cap part number!?

I don't know about the spring deal, it came with that rotor when i got the dizzy. It looked a lot worse before I cleaned it. I'll piece it back together mañana and try to buy a new/spare rotor and cap. I'll let you know how she fares.

Stuck in Mexico! Trollhole Dizzy rotor and cap part number!?

Hey Marshall, Thanks for writing back. I have a red cap dizzy. I'll attach a photo of the rotor that came with my Dizzy and the autozone link for a 77. Can you confirm that it will work for my dizzy. Mine seems to have more going on than the 77. Also, I told the guy at the part store that the...

Stuck in Mexico! Trollhole Dizzy rotor and cap part number!?

I emailed Marshall, but I'll try PMing him. The lack of toyota's does seem a bit alarming. I'll try the taco approach. Thanks

Stuck in Mexico! Trollhole Dizzy rotor and cap part number!?

On the rotor it says 9034... not really sure what this number is for. Any thoughts? I can hitch a ride to autozone, so things are looking up.

Stuck in Mexico! Trollhole Dizzy rotor and cap part number!?

Hey guys, Our 1976 Fj40 has gotten us down to Oaxaca, Mexico. After a $15 carb rebuild in the parking lot of a mercado due to some awful fuel quality "Emma" died on the way to a proper mechanic. The Green angels (the mexican equivalent to free triple A) helped us diagnose the the problem as a...

    Fj40 Alcan highway help.

:) The road maps got us a few hundred miles. I'm not sure what we're going to do when we need that particular map. It sure isn't the most "back woods" fix we've preformed on her in a pinch. But, the new gaskets sure do seal up the leaks a lot better.

    Fj40 Alcan highway help.

Sorry for not posting back. We ended up going to Torfab (http://www.torfab.com) in WA by recommendation of a IH8mud member. They were able to help fix the leaks (both exhaust manifold and carb). I highly recommend Tor's shop. Since the repairs, we've visited Yosemite, Death Valley, Grand canyon...

For Sale  2.5" HPS rear springs-BOISE

2.5" over stock HFS rear springs. Used less then 3000 miles. They have the "lean correction plate" installed on the passanger spring. The springs come with bushings. The reason we are selling them is because we needed more lift. They came off of our 1976 fj40. They may fit other applications...

    Fj40 Alcan highway help.

Good to know about the bonded gasket. We just set placed a cut gasket on the insulator. When I was playing with the carb I noticed our manifold gasket seems black in one spot. We're going to head to West Washington and visit TorFab. From what I'm told, he's the guy. I'll post once we remedy the...

    Fj40 Alcan highway help.

Thanks so much for the responses. I think our main problem was a awful vacuum leak under the carb. We coasted into a campsite in BC and took the carb off and the gasket that sits on the manifold was cracked and dried up. We cut some "new" gaskets out of road maps and got state side. We have some...

    Fj40 Alcan highway help.

Hello, Over the past two years we've rebuilt our 1976 (ish) fj40 "Emma" with the help of many people and this forum. We are attempting to drive her to South America from Soldotna, AK. ATM we are in Fort Saint John, BC 11 days into our trip. We are having some carb issues. It seems to start up...
