Hi, funny I just did this repair Friday night. The rubber button just got hard and was not responding, partly due to the cold New England weather too. Easy to replace and dont forget to clean and lube the locking mechanism. Mine was sticky and half the problem. Oh, word of advise. Make sure you...
Get a new battery cable and ground cable kit. Someone on here sells them. There are like 2 or 3 fat ground cables. Cant hurt to try. After 25+ years its good insurance anyways. Hand full of times ive been overly frustrated and it was a simple grounding issue. Wish I checked that first.

Thanks for the kind comments! I have allllll kinds of ideas and plans but unfortunately time and money is limited. 2nd kid has arrived so priorities have shifted. Id love to redo the undercarriage again but im looking to get in new body mounts and address the fuel tank and filler hoses soon...
No dont drain the coolant. Just have the new sensor ready to go back in quickly.

I immediately thought ground wires. Double check your grounds. One on the trans too. Might look good on the ends but bad further in the wire. Some one here on mud sells a good kit.
One last observation was that the power steering felt lumpy. Like if you turned full left to full right every hf turn had a very noticeable hard soft hard soft spots. Power steering fluid was at correct level but did look cooked brownish. Ram issues? Or fluid issue? Anyone else experience this...
