Marlin Crawler TacoBox. You would call it a "twin stick" except the Tacoma doesn't have a lever for the stock transfer case. The TacoBox is a 4.7:1 low range. So stock low, Marlin low, and double low and the ability to use the Marlin low in 2WD for clutch free slow motion mobility.

Finally switching to synthetic rope..... looking at new winch line mounts.

I love the Flatlink E. Have one on my personal truck and one on the primary training truck. Use them A LOT.

    Winch line - length question

Your winch is at full pulling capacity when it is down to the last layer on the drum. With a synthetic line (my preference), your minimum dead wraps should be 10 (depending on how your line is attached to the drum), which typically gives about half a drum of full pulling capacity. With each...

See how a Dual Case can take your truck to an entirely new level [video]

There is no question that this truck will benefit from dual cases. Stock low range is too high for precise driving in technical terrain. The 2GR-FKS engine in my truck does not develop much torque until 2500 rpm and above 3000 it is much better. It is ridiculous trying to crawl with the stock...

    Pressure build-up in radiator.

Thanks :-) I am worried about what causes the excess pressure. Is there something more serious lurking?

    Pressure build-up in radiator.

Thanks for your reply. My worry is there is a condition causing excess pressure.

See how a Dual Case can take your truck to an entirely new level [video]

I've been trying to buy a TacoBox for my 2017 since I got it in November of that year. Any progress?

    Pressure build-up in radiator.

1996 FZJ80 Earlier this year the top radiator tank exploded. It sounded like a shotgun. I replaced the radiator and hoses. While on the trail recently I noticed coolant dripping. All hose clamps are tight. Recent test drives have not duplicated the problem, but I still wonder about the...

What is the point of a thicker Hawse fairlead over 1.0” -Factor 55 site ???

The larger radius of the thicker fairlead is less stress on your line. Ideally, a synthetic line should not be bent to a radius less than 3x its diameter to maintain its full capacity. Also the larger surface area should reduce the concentration of heat due to friction. Heat is anathema to a...

    How long is your Hi-Lift..?

On an 80 I've found the 60" to be necessary. That truck goes a long way up before the wheel leaves the ground.

    Soft Shackles

They look great! How did you get the knots tight? Is that a tested rating?

    OME Install - tink,tink,tink...

I knew about that part. This is the cap that the u-joint is part of.

    Nope. Haven't heard this before.

    OME Install - tink,tink,tink...

Well, I went ahead and had the u-joints replaced. They were still good, but now they're new. In the process, my mechanic found that the cap on the front driveshaft was loose. That was the noise. It is a pressed-in piece and had become loose over time. They tack-welded it until I get a new one...
