He's Back!
I tried really hard and the list of replacement vehicles is impressive...but I couldn' shake the cruiser bug. Back with a stock LX470 and sure glad to see good folks still hanging out here!
On the bright side, I am looking for another LC....but these are still for sale. I trip over them every day:( Make me an offer or trade for something. Please use the email address above for a prompt reply.
Just re-found these under my boat cover....I'm sure they have appreciated but I still only want $200 for them. Since I sold the Crusher, I don't come here every day anymore....email if interested, w_horton@bellsouth.net
Shucks, I don't mean to be disingenuious...I can afford the fuel but just got tired of getting 12mpg. I'm also looking at ways to get off the grid cause electricity is next.
In my high school days, regular was $.17/gallon and ethel was $.19. We'd pull up to the pump and ask the <b>gas...
The mpg thing finally got me and the Land Crusher is no more, gone but never forgotten. It was a great daily driver. Thanks for all the great advice, there are some delightful and technically astute folks here. I appreciate all your help.
12,000+ miles of flat towing behind the motorhome...
204k, I drive it daily. I rarely go offroad and never crawl. A recent tuneup increased my mpg from 12 to around 15....still pretty miserable economy but this thing is fun to drive and a heck of a lot easier to park than an F350. There's an additional 15k spent flat towing behind the motorhome...
Mine willbuckle in the middle and otherwise shimmy a bunch at anythong above 65-70. I think I remember the problem is the sheet metal has separated from the cross supports.....and someone used expanding foam to re-adhere and stiffen....wonder how long that will last????
I looked at the Lightforce and ended up with Cibie Turinis from Daniel Stern.... plastic body and solid glass lens, fit an ARB well and perform flawlessly. The size is around 9 inches in diameter....about $250 w/100w bulbs. Good luck with your choice.
Thanks, Dan....when I saw the $300 figure, I started thinking about a fix rather than new.
The first pic is before the fix. There are two levers on the handle, one lifts the rod that opens the door, the other is spring loaded to make the handle close. This handle split from middle toward...
Drivers door, the plastic piece that lifts up to open the door is broken...came out as one piece with the lock. Photos shortly whether the fix works or not.
This doesn't look like the problem previously reported, so maybe this isn't an expensive piece:)
The only threads I found were related owners not being able to open a door. My door opens fine from the inside, the problem is the plastic piece you actually grab has split. The previous posts relate a new unit is $300 and several days away. Wondering if anyone has tried to bond and reinforce...
There's an Alpine to Toyota adapter that will use the deck's power to run the speakers....I'd recommend disconnecting the dash and roof speakers and replacing the door speakers. My unit would cut out trying to drive eight speakers that don't sound that good to begin with. Hope this helps:)
I had a long chat with the ARB engineer in Wash. when mine arrived with the disclaimer. We reached a consensus with what Beo. said above....theoretically the bags should deploy sooner rather than later, but I've yet to see it proven. From your photos, it looks like more verticle force than...
ARB goes to great lengths on their web site to tell us how their bumpers are engineered to support air bag deployment, to wit:
AIR BAG COMPATIBILITY
With an air bag equipped 4x4 it is essential that the vehicle's crush rate and air bag triggering is not altered when a bull bar is...
