Did this upgrade last night, what a great difference. Timed it, took 24 minutes including putting tools away and washing hands. Great mod, thank you for all the great write up's.
They both look very nice, one thing to consider is a vehicle that sits will have issues from lack of use. It may not be leaking now but will be not long down the road. Also all the rubber is most likely shot, break lines, hoses, belts, vacuum lines, etc.
I have not had a problem with glare on my 1981 fj40, but will most likely notice now that i have read this post. We live in Atlanta, just install your soft top. This cold weather will not last long.
And yes my hard top is currently on, i am a chicken when it comes to cold weather.
I know of a nice 1993 fjz80, very clean no rips in the leather, new tires, cold air, NO LEAKS, but no lockers. 5k friends wifes truck. They are selling it because they bought my 1996 lx450...
Wish i would have known two weeks ago, just removed mine and installed the hard top for the winter. I can give you some pointers on the phone if you can not figure it out. Just pm me. The hardest part is the stupid frame the first time. After that you can do it sleeping
