Good Eye!
So, looking back on this thread I found that the winch in Post 79 is also a 1977 - Dec so I've been able to book-end my serial number and it's very interesting.
8074 before, my 8274 with an 8074 sticker and an 8274 after.
Seems like all winches came off the same line.
I might have to do that.
Here is an interesting advertisement showing Warn selling the 8074 and introducing the 8274. It clears up my question about why there were so many different part numbers (although mine is not in the list). Also interesting is that the 8074 looks to have a faster pull...
Here is something crazy. Crazy that I even found it!

Here is a winch on a 1977 INTERNATIONAL SCOUT II that was made only a few days from mine according to the date code. My code is CQ7 so the 17th (Q) working day of March...
Do I have an enigma here?
I just picked up this winch and it is an 8074 according to the sticker and looks to be manufactured in 1977 but it has the freespool.
The story I got from the seller is that it has been kicking around in his garage for the past 30 or 35 years. I think he said he...
My, Very Canadian, '77 FJ45 also has the same Gauge cluster. Back then we were still standard like the US. Didn't go metric 'til the '80's sometime IIRC.
I have watched this post for a while now as I have a BJ70 and this is pretty cool, however, I don't believe this is for a 70 nor do I believe that it is complete. The stripe with the gas tank door is the telltale that this "set" is meant for a 77 series. If it was for a 70, that particular...
That is an IFS 27 spline dial because it is flat. But that doesn't mean that it is not a 30 spline hub. Someone may have just just changed the dial because the dials are interchangeable. Turn it over and post a pic for the people who are interested in buying. I'm not a buyer but thought I would...
Yes, running and driving still available. Are they ready to run on the highway...no.
Unit 686 is still available and runs and drives.
Unit 687 has had its drivetrain removed.
Unit 941 is still available and runs and drives. Engine smokes.
If anyone is truly interested, best to IM me.
Awl_TEQ up here in Canada was making tailgates and 40 series panels but has now passed off the sales to another company. The original post is here

No question they probably had a hard life working in the mines, but I would very much disagree that all the parts have to be rebuilt or replaced. Bodies on some are definitely gone, but maintenance looks to be pretty good. Unit 686 and 687 have very good bodies. Unit 941, which is a 2005, has...
Since forum etiquette dictates I put a price, I put a price on Unit 686. It is one of the better ones and so the highest priced one. That way people have a ceiling price.
The others will be each priced accordingly but there is too much information to put out there about each individual truck.
