I share your pain. My brake pedal went to the floor a month ago. No leaks in system lines. I have replaced all shoes (drum brakes), replaced all wheel cylinders (adjusters on 2 where frozen-up; 2 were wet under the rubber boot so I replaced them all, and replaced the MC (bench bled), and bled...
I read this thread and I one question. Where is the best spot to connect the vacuum gauge to tune the carb? I tried using the dizzy advance port next to the idle mixture screw (Trollhole Carb), but got no reading at idle, so that can’t be right. Thanks!
Serviced the parking brake that hasn’t worked for years. Now works fine. Note: I rotated the adjustment mechanism 180 degrees before closing up. Shoes would not center properly as pictured. Also replaced the seal in the transfer case while is was in there.
Found some time to install the new torque tube from 4Plus/lcwizard. Pic of tube installed, cut out of prior torque bar, and finally able to service the parking brake (I ended up rotating the adjustment mechanism 180 degrees - shoes would not center properly the way pictured). Thanks for the...
Knowing my luck (nothing goes together until I bleed on it) I’d be under the rig in the garage with the transfer case resting nicely on my chest. I’ll move the tube and spare the chest. PS: I’m up in Erie once or twice a year (summer only), the wife is from there. We go up to visit her family...
When you post that you have some made up, can you mention the length from end to end so I can measure my frame? Sorry to be a pain, but measure twice, buy once since my 40 is a mutt, I want to be sure. Then I need to find a surgeon with a welder. Thanks!
Used the 40 to scarf up some left-over sod from a landscaping job nearby. They over-ordered and I had some dead spots in the yard that needed re-sodding; and rain was in the forecast - all planets were aligned.
transfer case clearance
Is this (above link) still the preferred solution to removing the Parking Brake Drum when it is blocked by the frame cross member. I have this problem and need to replace the pads. Found this searching the site. Thanks Josie’s LandCruisers (Alan) for posting ( 2012)...
Hat was delivered today. Nice quality, I am totally satisfied. But now I have to break-in a new hat and that takes wear and time (along with sweat, dirt, rain, etc...so I’ll like it more a year from now.
Changed all the fluids, greased, gave her a hose-down (been almost a year since the last one) and then took her to Jacksonville (FL) Cars and Coffee Saturday morning. Only Land Cruiser there.
