I just went through this yesterday myself. I was unaware the key I was using was a valet key. Fortunately I had the blade from the master key in the ashtray and they were able to cut a new key and drop the guts from the keyless entry into a new shell. Worked out quite nicely for $60.

I just had my alternator, and serpentine belt replaced and had an oil change. $460 out the door. My LX also has almost identical mileage to yours. Last summer the previous owner had the alternator rebuilt and 12 months later this is where I ended up.
So I'll be picking this thing up tomorrow. New alternator, serpentine belt, another new battery and fresh oil change. Turns out the alternator was the issue. The "rebuild" from last year didn't take apparently. I'll report back to wrap this thread up tomorrow. Not sure if replacing the...
When revving the engine to 2000 rpm's the voltage dropped to 10.66. Next step is alternator replacement. I'll report back, thanks for the input so far!
Ok back with an update. After fully recharging the battery (I plan on swapping it for another new one) and replacing the 140 amp alternator fuse and the adjacent 100 amp fuse I tested the battery. 12.3 volts. Started the car, 11.9 volts. After that I could. It get it to stay running long...
