opinions on a troopy mod ??

While your the owner I say do what suits you. If it was impossible to get a new troopy body or parts I would have more reserve about that decision. Look at all the classic cars that have been reproduced just as good if not better than the originals. You can completely build a Tri-5 chevy from...

nv4500 vs ranger overdrive and chevy v8 vs diesel

6bt isn't an option unless your just wanting to break all kinds of stuff. Its too big and too heavy to be a reasonable power swap option. It out-weighs even the biggest chevy big block by about 500 pounds. Plus your poor frame will suffer I assure you. Can it be done, sure. Is it a good idea...

Anyone have experience with 430 or 454 big block in an FJ40?

I'm correcting myself before someone else does. I see now that you were just looking for Big Block info in general, hence the 454.

Anyone have experience with 430 or 454 big block in an FJ40?

I still don't think you've really given anyone enough information to actually give you sound advice on this setup. Your original post said it was a 454 or 430. Which one is it. Noway to tell for sure unless you run the numbers. Next thing you said is, it has a TH400. How do you know for sure...

Anyone have experience with 430 or 454 big block in an FJ40?

Last time I checked the older Ford and Mopar small blocks had distributors up front too. Can't see the valve covers, so I'm saying how do we "the viewers" know this is actually a big block??? You tell me another way I'm all ears.

Anyone have experience with 430 or 454 big block in an FJ40?

With these pics, I still can't verify that it is a BBC or any Big Block for that matter. Also it looks like the fan is close enough, but is the fan pushing or pulling air??? Might want to put your hand in there WHILE the fan is on and make sure it is blowing onto the engine. Could even be as...

    Adding a SECOND dog??

We did the same thing. Our first dog is a goldendoodle "smart as HECK" and my wife spent alot of time training him. We always kept him in a crate when we left the house and he became a great dog. Listens great, comes when called. Just one well behaved all round smart dog. When we got my dog...

What would you do with that engine?

Carb at WOT, coil disconnected and 3 or 4 revolutions. Batteries should be at full charge. This will give you your best compression numbers.

    Vibration at high rpm's

Forgot you put on new engine mounts, I'd check those also.

    Vibration at high rpm's

Fan wouldn't do that. In my opinion, its your drive train. Somewhere something is loose, broken bent or otherwise not the way it is supposed to be. I would go through all the bolts from the block back. Especially at the bellhousing. I had a fresh rebuild on a 355 once and did not get all of my...

    Interesting dash pad

Saw one of these on the "BAY" for sale. Wanted AU dollars for it. I would much rather have the one with the lid and storage area.

    transmission removal for clutch replacement

Have your :princess: loosen the last bolt or two and slide it back. It will suddenly drop, instantly reaching terminal velocity and driving your elbows down through your concrete shop floor. At this point you will have three options. You can let go and drop it on you sternum, or bend your elbows...
