Nearly done with a mini p/s swap, but stumped on how to mount the alternator to the small block chevy now that the p/s pump is in it's old spot...
Anyone know where I can get a passenger side alternator mount for a short water pump chevy small block? Maybe a good driver side high mount...
1974 FJ40 Toyota Landcruiser 4x4 with Chevy V8 conversion done at Rapid Wrench in Bend, OR about 4 years ago.
This truck was in Central Oregon for over 15 years (dry there!) until I brought it up here earlier this year.
Was my daily driver until the rain started back up. I haven't had time...
Has anyone else checked this one out yet? What about the importing from CA part...tough?
Thanks for any insight you can offer up!

Planning on doing a 3B swap this winter and wondering what would be a fair price range?
Any chance this motor has an easily matured automatic that fits well in the 40?
Does the 3B require a lift like the 4BT?
Any other things to look for would be really helpful.
Cheers
Thinking about switching over to a flexible radiator hose instead of trying to find a replacement for the hose I have now. SBC swap btw.
Any cons to doing this?
Any recommendations or pointers on flexible hose?
Thanks
Hoping to pick up a steering shaft from an FJ40 that had oem power steering...a bit shorter than from the manual steering rigs.
Needs to be in good shape.
Cheers,

Would this work for making the bypass hose?
Seems like one or two steps easier than tapping the original plugs or putting together the pipe fittings.
Any downsides?

I pulled this motor from a hard top I purchased from Arizona, so I don't think this motor has seen much action. I already have two or else I'd keep this around. You'll...
Hello,
Looking for a rear heater (my 40 didn't come with one), the type with the two bolt mounting. My 40 is a 1974 vintage.
Hoping to get a core that doesn't leak or have lots of damaged fins, and a good motor.
How it looks isn't a huge deal as long as it's still able to be cleaned up.
Hit...
I've scoured searches over and over but can't seem to find routing help for a charcoal canister with an SBC conversion.
I have a '74 40, with canister I just bought see photos, 283 sbc with edelbrock carb.
Any help on where to mount the canister and how to route the lines would be much...
I have no shop space right now :frown: but really want to get my manual steering converted over to power. The manual setup needs work (new TRE, center link, rag joint, etc) but I'd rather just put that money into the swap.
The only quote I've gotten so far (from a shop I'll not name) was over...
Does anyone make a complete hardtop from plastic or fiberglass? Would be so much lighter and seems like all plastic might even be good for an on the trail setup where weather may be a little less certain...
My new 40 came with an SBC 283 conversion, and I'm going someone can enlighten me on how to make sure my temp gauge is calibrated...as in should I still pay attention to the 'normal' range? If so, then I'm always running cool.
Many thanks!
Wondering if anyone here has a line on a good paint shop in washington? I'm in Seattle but willing to drive a bit for a good shop.
...best balance of affordable and quality.
Id like to go with bedliner inside, paint on outside, and undercoating.
I need one small rust spot patched too since...
Picking up a new hard top soon and just wondering what things are easier to repair.
What's your opinion on three things to be aware of when shopping fora hard top? What's a deal breaker and what isn't.
My current top has a few leaks in the middle of the fiberglass top. Water is coming in...
