I'll try and upload some more.
Maybe I'm not sure what I'm doing, but when creating the listing, it only let me upload those.
Let's give it another go...
Edit:
Looks like I can only do 5 at a time.
This is A 1984, Land Rover Series 3 (Santana), with the 88 inch / short wheelbase, with left-hand-drive and a removable hard-top, located in central Ohio. It is just arrived from salt-free Spain, and has effectively no corrosion or any other rot anywhere on the frame/body/etc. It is fully titled...
Hey John!
Norman here, from over on Facebook. Was looking through here as well, and recognized the name!
Diesel... WAY better mileage (20mpg+), far simpler engine, more robust components, and lower operating RPM's means the engine is going to last much longer.
Cons... Cold starting in Ohio...
Well, looks like I've gotten the same bug as the rest of you: the dreaded P0401 on a '95.
I've checked the modulator... replaced the valve... used the resistance method to test the VSV... (Here. Genius move, by the way)... and STILL getting the 401.
Ugh.
Digging through a few of these...
Absolutely.
If we don't voice something outside the forum here, no action will be taken.
If you've had this issue as well, PLEASE submit your complaint with SAFERCAR.GOV
It takes maybe 5 minutes, and photos can be uploaded. If enough people voice their experience with this, we should be able...
Interesting; thanks for the heads up!
I'm not sure where the dealership would have gotten a used tank, as I did take the old, cracked one home with me.
As to the charcoal canister: definitely. At one point, they tried to blame the smell of gas on cracked hoses from the evaporative control...
Well, add another FJ80 owner with cracked fuel tank to the list.
I had this exact issue late last year on my '95.
I wanted a larger aftermarket tank, but couldn't find squat on the interweb... So, went with the dealer's tank, and a local guy to do the drop/install as I have nowhere to...
Thought I might bump the question; anyone have any advice on how to get that pipe on/off? As mentioned, its a stubby little thing, with two, 90 degree ends.
How do you get the thing on/off without a mallet?
Hey all. Exact same issue with my bypass outlet leaking as well. The pipe itself is in excellent condition, but the o-rings were badly gunked up.
That pipe is a massive bear to pull!
Maybe there is some trick I'm missing, but two female ends, 90 degrees from each, on a short, bitty pipe with...
Yea, I can see that. When doing any sort of body work; the only way paint can be reliably applied is when it's taken all the way down to the surface.
Makes sense that that would be the case with POR as well.
Only problem being; that the average DIY-er (yours truly) doesn't have easy access to...
A lot of folks seem to swear by this POR-15 stuff. I looked into it, it seems that prep is key; most often, taking it down to the bare metal, then scuffing it up. Most of my factory undercoating is still intact (FJ80): and i'd prefer to not have to scrape it all off, if at all possible.
Any...
Well, I just called the place in SE Columbus: according to them, (assuming there's no rust that needs to be treated), their undercoating/rust protection involves:
-Lifting the vehicle for a powerwashing of the underside,
-Spray on treatment of the black goopy, wax-based stuff: including a...
Ah.
In that case, I already have a sacrificial anode of the Honda variety.
However, lugging that thing around on the underside of the cruiser can get to be a bit cumbersome. Really wrecks havoc with the clearance.
Actually, we use both as DD, so short of picking up another car, there's not...
As mentioned over in the LC sighting thread, I recently moved into the area from Arizona. Out there, rust isn't really an issue; other than as a semi-fashionable patina that one might build up on the axles after a long life of puddle-bombing.
But having just arrived in the area here, I'm...
Thanks!
Still learning the area; but have yet to find anywhere to get dirty (that's not a full state away).
I did see another 80: headed west on 33 between Marysville and Bellefontaine, yesterday around 4:30~5-ish. Dark color, looked like stock suspension but with larger tires and what...
Spotted in a red-rock dirt garden somewhere between Marysville and Bellefontaine. Sweet bodywork: not a spot of rust on the old 40! :p
Hey all, I didn't see an "intro yourself" thread, so I figured this would be as good a place as any. Just moved into the area from Arizona (Yes, that's Sedona...
Well, the process has been ongoing for more than a week, but the relocation to Ohio is now happening.
So, what has the LC been up to?
Mostly downsizing to an Ohio sized rock garden. :-/
Dirt and rocks were hauled all the way out here from Sedona. :D
Sorry it's taken a bit to get back, but there's no point in sending Cinderella to the ball if all she's got is the new lipstick. :D
So, while glass slippers aren't the best analogy for a new pair of shoes;...
Dang it, I lost my train of thought on that one.
New ARB up front; courtesy of...
