Tub is 3/16 metal installed by Poor Wally's Land Cruiser, Year in header is typo as the rig is a '75. Yes rear fenders are flat. All parts are present including all you referenced. As for seats they are the original seats with new upholstering done by a local shop here - nothing rare about...
The sanding is tedious work but coming along nicely - angle grinders are much more effective! However, after about a week it appears that rust is already forming back on the sections that we already cleaned up? Does rust really come back this quickly? I'm looking into the POR products.
My apologies - I know how offended I get when someone refers to either of my FJ40's as something that starts with the letter that falls between "I" and "K"!! The word is not even allowed in the house. And thanks for the tips ideas!! I will keep you posted!
The project has begun!! The FJ has considerable surface rust and we have been hitting it hard with a drill and grinder (s) - it's tedious work. The paint and rust all must go!! Anyone know a faster way that the grinders? Chemicals? Strippers?
Any ideas would be great!!
I have a 73 FJ40 3 speed and want to get a little more cruising speed on the highway. I spoke with a local mechanic who told me that putting in a 4 speed transmission would not get me anymore speed?? Anyone know much about this or anything about getting more speed out a 3?
1973 FJ40 - my current tailgate is a latch and drops down. Would prefer to have on that swings open. Does anyone know if they made those for the 1973 as I can't find one new or used. If not, can I adapt a 1974 tailgate?
I have a 73' oil pressure sensor I am installing. I have never seen this type of connector for wires before. It's a little brass "ring". Does anyone know what I need to connect the wires to this?
I don't have a buyer for you but I have a question: I have the same set up - what did you use for the oil pressure sender to the gauge - an adapter or resistors? If an adapter where did you get it?
I have a 350 chevy engine which operates at a different resistance than a toyota engine. I need to use resistors in order for my oil gauge to give me a proper reading. What level of ohms am I looking for. The book suggests 44 but that seems very high to me?
