Thanks! I stretched it as much as i could. I think you could get it centered in your wheel wells using the 60 springs. I have my shackle hangers on the bumper and the spring positioned to move the axle out further. Also my spring perches on the axle give it an extra one inch. Plenty of room to...
This is the best I can do with the cruiser in the garage. I might be able to pull it out on Wednesday and get an actual 90 degree pic. I have 38X15.5R16.5 tires on it. No shocks yet that's next on the list.
Im hoping to take the fiberglass off my hard top and reseal it. Anyone have experience with this? Is there a seal that is still available somewhere? I didnt have much luck searching. Thanks
I think he is talking about something like this bumper. Not my rig but i have the same bumper. I got it used but from what i understand it is a old bumper that 4+ made. But they dont make it anymore.
I set set the front up as low as I could and just matched the rear to it. I left all the leafs in and it still seems pretty soft. Haven't driven it yet though.
Home made outrigger and it's hangs low to level to cruiser. I used ruffstuff outriggers in the front. I can't take any side profile shots because my garage is not big enough and it is still not running so I can't pull it out. I have small roller tires on it now. Much easyer to work on that way.
Springs are about 46.5" eye to eye under load in the front and about 47" in the back. Rear has 6" shackles and the front has 4". My springs are used stock ones. They are not the easiest thing to find. Took me a about a year to find 2 good sets.
That is exactly how I set my suspension up. My wheel base is 107", I have the rear shackle mount on the bumper to move it back as far as possible and i had to keep the front shakes in the front. I tried doing a shackle reversal but it made the rig way to high. This is the best pic i have right now.
As long as your shackle angle is around 45* it should ride nicely. I have my shackles up front but i haven't been able to drive it yet.
Im also using a Chevy D44.
That catches me up for the most part. Im working on pluming the brakes and power steering system now and should get that all done in a week or two. It feels good getting back at it and making some progress on the cruiser. Let me know what you think of the build i always like constructive...
The suspention turned out great I cant wait to find out how it preformes. A big thank you to my buddy travis (mtntravo on mud). Travis does all my structural welding for me, Im just not good enough at it to trust it on the big stuff. I couldnt do this build without him.
I ordered a lot of...
Now for the power steering. Im really happy with how this turned out. After cutting the hole in the crossmember with a hole saw I tacked a thick flat plate cut to fit along the frame. I used small DOM cut to the proper lengths to space the box away from the plate and to go in between the plate...
Im not a fan of drum brakes and the 14 bolt could certainly stand to lose a few pounds. I got disk brake brakets from ruff stuff fore the 14bolt. They are grate i have zero problems putting them on. I love everything that comes from ruff stuff. The brackets use calipers and rotors from 3/4 ton...
For brakes I decided to go with hydro boost. The booster is much smaller and fits very nicely on the fire wall. I have read that hydro boost performs a lot better too. i just hope my power steering pump wont fail out on the trail. The master cylinder came out of the same truck as my motor 74ish...
Next up is a sweet radiator from summit that my girlfriend got me for Christmas. I cut up the stock rad support and made it wider to fit the summit one. After seeing how a few other people mounted there aluminum radiatiors i would have done it differently but i think it will hold up ok. I...
