Wanted '74 Hardtop
I am looking for a complete top. Mine at least needs the complete rain gutter and rivets. There is some additional rust spots in the upper rear of the top that might not be able to be repaired.

Did the '74 FJ40 come with a fan shroud? If I get a fan shroud for a later model FJ40 will it work on a '74 with a direct drive fan?

I have a '74 FJ40 with a standard fan and was wondering if I could take a fan clutch from a later model FJ40 and put it directly onto the pulley that my standard fan is bolted to.
The reason why I would like to do that is to get rid of the noise and drag the standard fan puts on the engine...
Thank you for the reply. I ended up removing the Voltage Regulator, put a new 15AMP fuse in and went for a ride. Turn signal and Hazard lights worked normally and the fuse did not blow.
I opened up the Voltage Regulator and think I see where it is going to ground when voltage from alternator...
I Have A Solution
My father in-law came over with a Dwell meter and we found out the dwell was way to low, around 18. Set the Dwell to 40, reset the timing and it runs like a top.
Now the other electrical problem.....

I am having some electrical related issues and need some help.
This all started because of on off idle hesitation. I replaced the Cap, Rotor, Spark Plug Wires and Spark Plugs and set the timing.

Looking at the Actuator arm it points Counter Clockwise and when vacuum is applied it moves clockwise.
From what I can tell the part number on the distributor is 19100-00866 tag is very weathered....
Also this FJ40 is desmogged except for the Charcoal Canister

I have a '74 with excessive play in the distributor shaft and am looking to get it rebuilt.
My question is - Since the diaphram is pointing back towards the firewall I assume I have a vaccum retard. If reatrding the ignition is not a good idea why not plug the vacuum line...

This past weekend I installed the 4" BDS Lift on my 40. All was going great until.... I went to put on the left front shock.
It seems that the Drag Link (Bar that follows the frame rail from the steering box to the Bell Crank) is in the way of the shock.

I have a leak on the rear of the engine and thought it was the Rear Main Seal, but after removing the transmission, and bell housing I have found that most of the leak is comming from the 24mm plug above the Rear Main Seal.
