    My new Fj40.

It definitely looks like it's on a lean. I'd start with counting the number of leafs in the rear to make sure each side has the same amount. Looks like a bit of sag in the right.

Can't get my center arm out

Dunno if this helps but it's how I did it.

Builds Official Projekt "Rusty" Buildup thread

Those wire wheels on the grinders are the way to go, looks like you'll be doing a fair bit of that. Atleast it runs, what's the engine bay like?

    Rear Bed Repair

I don't know what you mean by "dsansted" but your post encouraged me to update the site. I took the new motor out for a spin tonight, very pleased with it. http://www.completelybiased.com/pete/FJ40Buildup/

    From F to 2F: QUESTIONS!!!

If you're 1/2" out then your alignment is not correct. The friction plate has moved. You can press the clutch in and wiggle the gearbox and it'll find the pilot bearing and slot in all the way.

    Rear Bed Repair

Looks very similar to the way I repaired my cruisers underneath tub. http://www.completelybiased.com/pete/FJ40Buildup/teardown/190705/190705.htm

Can I use early 2F engine mounts in cruiser?

Thanks The rubber split in half when we lifted the old engine out. I had a chat to the supplier and they're going to send the correct mounts next week.

Can I use early 2F engine mounts in cruiser?

Can I use these early 2F mounts in my 1978 cruiser when putting in a 1981 2F motor? Here is the original mounts, however one side the rubber is cracked.

    starter...dead??

Woohoo, my problem turned out to be a bad earth connection from starter to chassis. Thanks to this thread I checked my connections before buying a new starter. All is good!

    starter...dead??

I've got a problem with my starter/battery as well. It will turn the motor without the spark plugs, but as soon as I put the spark plugs in, there's too much compression and the starter struggles and makes clicking noises. I'm hoping it's just a flat battery.

Attaching relay arm to center arm assembly

It's a new seal, came with the kit, didn't seem to be a tight fit into the housing but the inside seals on the shaft neatly. I'll stick it all back on the cruiser and see how it goes. Thanks

Attaching relay arm to center arm assembly

Hmm, it just doesn't seem right. Here's another pic showing the gap and the top adjusting nut. It can only go on one way for the other linkages to line up so i'm sure that's it's on the right way. The top nut was tightened then backed off 1/4 turn, sit's almost flush. Pin_Head: Thanks for...

    Flames!!!!

I just did a search and got mixed results about clockwise/anti, sorry about that. Just keep turning it till it starts. If you've got flames then I don't think the ignition system is failing as it's got to be sparking. Just not at the right time. You can ground a sparkplug on the block and...

    Flames!!!!

I had flames out my carb when the timing was too far advanced. I just kept turning back the distributor (retard = clockwise) till it started then set it properly with timing light.

Attaching relay arm to center arm assembly

I've rebuilt the centre arm assembly and got it all back together. I can't work out how to press on the relay arm to the center arm assembly. Can this be done in the garage or do I have to take it somewhere that has a hydraulic press? I've tightened the nut as much as I can and there's still...

This is what happens when you "seal" your windows with silicone

    Potentiometer Fan Speed Control

My half speed setting on my heater fan doesn't work. The resistor is busted. Instead of just replacing the resistor I want to fit a potentiometer so the fan speed is adjustable in more than just 3 stages (off, half, full). Are there any eletronic guru's who know how to wire this up?

    Cheap tricks

Yeh turpentine, I dunno what you guys call it in the states. Used for cleaning up after painting. From my experience, soap doesn't work too well with oil based enamel paint and bituman paint. Also, you won't destroy those new sponges bought from the store. Just throw out the newspaper.
