Just picked up a group 78 X2Power from a recently deceased friend's garage that he marked as bought in 2015 and never used. put a meter on it and it registered 12.4V which surprised me as an Optima Red Top, also unused from about the same purchase date showed 11.6V. Running them both on chargers...
The Mobil 15w50 label states that it is a high zinc content oil and I think the # is similar to the Castrol. Turns out the Mobil 1 is 1300ppm. Their 20w50 Racing is even higher at 1800ppm.
3FE list - good times and good memories. Back then, an FPR replacement was not only easy and cheap it usually had positive results. So cheap, in fact, that testing was time spent wrenching when you could have been drinking high brow beer. These days an OEM FPR is something like $150 or more, so...
Guidance from around the world. Awesomeness! I think you guys have figured it out for me and it is much appreciated. Now if you could all come over and get me through reinstalling the windshield wipers and the window regulators/door handle mechanisms it would be perfect. As it is, the project...
The lip around the top and the scuffed paint make it appear, to me, that something sits on top of the piece. I checked the area underneath the coolant/windshield washer tanks but nothing lines up there.
After five years of taking the 40 apart, I've been putting it back together after having it painted. One part that hasn't been self explanatory is evading installation and I don't have documentation of it. Pretty sure it's from the engine bay - #2 Phillips for sizing. Thanks for the help!

These are OEM and came from a truck brought in from Saudi Arabia, or so the story went, in 2004. Most of them came from OZ but that market has pretty well dried up, I think.
I could do this all day but I'll stop for now. Both Nell and Pearl loved the 62 and are sorely missed. Our current Golden came from the Golden Retriever Rescue of the Rockies - GRRR - and is intimidated by the 62 but really likes her throne in the back of the 100.
Mind-boggling effort you are putting into the old beast and so worth it! For yourself and the rest of us as well. Watching the video of the original startup was thrilling. When you finish the project, it will be interesting to see which of the 60 series you spend the greater amount of time...
Adding my 2 cents here. Just installed a Tekonsha (Prodigy) Primus IQ to my '03 and it was a breeze. Finding the factory connector was really easy after removing the lower dash panel and knee brace. That takes about five minutes and you don't have to get down on your back and feel around in the...
Did it today and everything went pretty smoothly. Riding on 866 OMEs, used the original bags that Nolan recommended, cut the OEM bumpstop down to the first fold and reused it. It all lined up as it should and I'm ready to pull a small utility trailer to NC. Used the supplied tee and made it a...
Yup, Cruise Moab 20th Anniversary is coming up fast, alright. You are going to find the Diamond axle to be bulletproof so you might as well sign up for Pritchett, Behind the Rocks and everything else difficult!
One question: did you look into the 4+ U-bolt flip kit for the front and rear...
Hey Bob,
I can't help it I'm cool! :) That 3 wheeler won't die. I bought it used in the early nineties and use it everyday to feel the animals or go to the mail box. I guess you could call it my DD.
And how do your animals feel? :D
Hi Ron,
The chain of events leading to the axle failure is that you bought them from Poly Performance and then installed them in your rig. You aren't the first to see this ugly mess as just about anyone who bought the PP junk has had the same experience, me included. Best thing to do is chuck...
I'll second the the thumbs up for GT Covers. Quality and fit are top notch. They've been in the 62 for over ten years and 100k miles and still look like new and are comfortable in all weather. 1988 Toyota LandCruiser Sport Utility Front Buckets Seat Covers - GT Covers
I was able to buy them on...
FJ60 and FJ62 fuel delivery problems are not closely related to one another. Fuel injection system is reliant on fuel pressures of 45psi or more versus less than 10 psi for the carb system of a 60. Fuel pump replacement on the 62 requires either dropping the fuel tank or cutting a hole in the...
