    Aux/Long Range Fuel tank designs

This is a little off topic, but is there a speed sensor that can be accessed in 60 series and up? The reason I ask is if you could access it there is a ton of do it yourself electronic kits that can be made to sense voltages and do things at set voltages. It seems to me like it would be a good...

    The perfect Pan-American Expedition Vehicle

As if my last message wasn't long winded enough but I thought of some other things. Most buses use heavy duty truck transmissions and rearends, the med sized ones anyway. You should be able to find lockers for Dana 80's. And a PTO for the transmission. Take some time to look at all of the...

    The perfect Pan-American Expedition Vehicle

Security seems to be a big deal for you. Experts in security will tell you the best thing you can do for security is to be inconspicous. Brand new shiny trucks no mater where you get them from are not going to be inconspicous. A bus in CA is one of the most inconspicous things. A bus solves...

Transfer Case Speedo Double Seal Writeup / How To

I thought this might be the case but I hadn't seen it in any of the writeups yet. So wouldn't do just as good to do one or the other but not both. If you speedi sleeve it than the one seal will work great, if you don't speedi sleeve it than the double seal system works great. Just my .02

Transfer Case Speedo Double Seal Writeup / How To

Has anyone had any problems with the outside seal burning up with this mod? It seems to me that if you speedi sleeve the sealing surface than one seal shoud be plenty. The inside seal should never leak so the outside seal will never be lubed. This will eventually destroy the sealing ability...

    R.I.P.

This is old and probably everybody has read it but I love the messages. I am sorry about your loss. Dog's Purpose, from a 4-year-old Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog's owners, Ron, his wife, Lisa, and their...

    Trouble shooting a Binding Drivetain??

Dan, If everything is aligned right this bushing doesn't have a real important job. It shouldn't be supporting any weight. It's purpose in life is to keep the input shaft centered to the crankshaft, and to provide stability to the end of the shaft. Like it was said earlier, as long as half of...

    Getting ready for winter

To answer your question the reflectors go where you have them. Above the emblems is where the back up light goes.

    need hard top suggestions

Bear and bosscat, I am sorry to tell you this, but repairing a drip rail is going to be one of the hardest things for you do to your Cruiser. The peices from CCOT are tin and are going to be hard to weld. I still have a front drip rail in a box in my storage container. Second there are all...

    need hard top suggestions

CCOT sells the drip rail, but it isn't cheap and it will be alot of work. Don't blast the top, people have had bad results with this, starts to leak and is hard to fix. Just sand it, you don't have to get all the red off to pait white over it.

pulsing in breaks - likely to be bearings or warped rotors

x2 on the rotors. Just had the brakes done on the wifes car and the idiot's didn't surface the rotors. Wife of course had no idea they were supposed to do that so she had to take it back. After they surfaced them, no more pulse.

    School me in LSD

So basicly an LSD is just a locker that slips and how much it slips depends on the amount of preload in the clutches? The advertising out there and convetional wisdom muddies the water quite a bit. So LSD's don't transfer power all they do is slip sooner and more smoothly than an auto locker...

    School me in LSD

So I guess the Dodge had a Geared Torque-Sensitive Differential? Other than the chances of a clutch diff. suddenly locking up during spinning is there any other disadvantage?

    School me in LSD

This vid was posted in chat and I asked a technical question about it, big no no. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYxUlroameU&mode=related&search= I thought LSD's were supposed to put the force to the wheel with the most traction, why didn't it work? The video looks like the Dodge has...

    Electrical problem. Headlights

I had a problem with my fuse panel being dirty, I would read 12 volts with the switch off but when I turned on the lights it dropped to zero. After cleaning the fuse contacts the lights worked fine. I would suggest getting a multimeter if I were you. Even a cheap one from HF can help a ton...

    When flushing Diff's & Trans

I used ATF and drove it for a few miles. My thinking was, thinner oil better cleaning. I let the ATF drain until it quit dripping and then filled it up with synth. I doubt a few tsp of ATF is going to effect over 2 quarts of gear oil.

    Favorite non-Diesel Expedition engine

If a 22R would move my 40 I would swap it. It is pretty much an agreed upon notion that the 22R is the best 4 banger ever built.

    Favorite non-Diesel Expedition engine

I'm a big fan of stock. If I were trying to build the most reliable rig, from a used base, I would rebuild the original engine. The Toyota engineers spent millions of dollars and thousands of hours designing and refining a complete system to work together, why mess with it. I'm new to the...
