Its held on by two plates which are nutserted to the underside of the goof gutter between the door seal and siliconed up so no water gets into the pillar.
Its really strong i think you would have to roll the car to bent it:eek:
Well people do argue that when its facing forwards you get the ram affect cause the air is forced in, but others will say that facing rearwards is the way to go because you dont have to turn the snorkel head around when your out mudding and because 90% of 4wding is at slow speeds(the ram affect...
I got them already bent, they sell them like that from the manufacturer, you need 2 90 deg and 1 45 deg and about 1.5m straight pipe.
I only cut the straight bits to suit and then welded them together.
I personaly havent seen the K&N ones so i couldn't say, but how mine is set up the 4in pipe lines up with the 3in air box pipe and only the hump hose is between the two, so nothing to restrict air flow.
I got the hump hose from a truck parts store, they use them all the time over here on trucks.

Step 1- Drill the 100mm hole in the fender with a hole saw( very nerve racking, in fear of slipping:eek:) and elongate the hole to suit bend in stainless pipe
Step 2- Connect a hump hose (4in down to 3in to suit the air box) to the stainless pipe
Step 3- Conect the other end of hump...
This is my stainless steel one that i made 4in stainless steel tube, work real well and my cruiser gets alot better air flow.

Mot, speaking of which, a new emergency brake handle, 1 ice try for the fridge and the slide cover thingy that hold the ice trays in, cigarette lighter with the part that goes in the dash, the plastic surround for the stero and aircon controls, drivers side front pillar grab handle(light grey)...
Yesterday my package from Mot arrived with my double fridge console lid and new gear knob so here is some pic's, it looks so much better now.
