    Fried my glow plug controller!

So I jumped in the 40 this morning to take it for a run, gave it a glow and noticed the controller not glowing like it does normally. I could not get the old girl to fire up at all and the first thing I thought of was the glow plugs. The current plugs had been in for around 3 years/20000k's...

Just replaced IP diaphragm and think i messed up?!

Hey guys, Today i replaced the diaphragm in my B diesel. It was tricky to get too even with the EDIC motor removed. They cover plate still had lockwire on it, so i assume the diaphragm i took out was original. Anyway i replaced both my fuel filters at the same time. I primed the system and...

FJ40 Technical Specifications Leaflet - Thiess Australia 1970 (WARNING Big Pics!)

Hi all, I recently scored a "Customer Service Facts & Figures" brochure on the FJ40 from back in 1970. Says on the bottom that it was published by Thiess (sales) PTY. Limited, which were the sole Australian importers and distributors. I thought a few of you might like to see some big pictures...

I guess this explains the hard-starting on my B diesel!

Well, i replaced all four glow plugs on my 79 BJ40 today. Looking at the state of the plugs i pulled, i guess it's glad i did! Plugs #2 & #4 were blown out on the tip. Now it doesn't get very cold where i live, compared to some places you guys reside. The lowest it has been is maybe 5...

    Dan's 1979 BJ40

Well i just bought a BJ40 yesterday. :bounce: I've been looking for a BJ42 for a while, but the few i looked at were pretty neglected and asking a for too much money in my opinion. I went out and looked over this 79 BJ40 that come up for sale a couple of days ago and put a deposit on it right...

"Are you buying another cruiser!"...says the girlfriend. "Haha, maybe"...I say!

Hello guys, I've been lurking around the 40 series and diesel tech sections of mud for a quite a while now. I've always loved 40's and right now i've got my heart set on a BJ42. I've had an 80 in the garage for the last 4 years and currently i own a 1997 turbo-diesel 80 series and it's...

I bought another 80...my dream 80 this time!

Falco80's HDJ80 Well i just recently picked up my ultimate 80 and i'm wrapt with it. She's a 97 HDJ80 with the brilliant multivalve, mechancially injected 1HD-FT. All white, with white flairs and alloy bar. Everything is pretty much stock Toyota with the exception of springs and shocks, which...

Bolt sheared on front radius arm....wtf!

Hi guys, after a recent day out wheeling i had a quick check under the cruiser and everything appeared ok. I do recall hearing a couple of loud bangs as i crawled up a steep rocky climb, near the end of the day, but figured it was just the rear hitch or sidestep smashing the rocks. I was under...

My baby has new front rotors...

Bolted up some new slotted front rotors yesterday to replace the originals. Replaced the pads and front wheel bearings too while i was at it. The wheel bearings took me a while to do, as it was my first time, but it all worked out ok. I love the massive 4-piston calipers on the 80! It's great...
