Hi, this seems to be a modified and pimped ride.
It is a BJ or FJ70 or 71 cruiser. They either came out with the 4cyl diesel in turbo or non-turbo. Both 3400cc (3B or 13B-t, hence a BJ then) or in FJ guise it should have been the 2F 6 cylinder 4200cc.
Get the model code and post it here...
OOH NO, you forget the rest of Africa (not just South Africa), Middle East, Madagascar, Canada, South America and the list goes on. The "developed countries" (such as USA and the big European countries) lost out with the 70 and all the "developing countries" seems to had the fortune of the 70...
Awesum Bakkie(South African for pick-up). You really went all out and I think you have one tough truck with you for life! More pics please of xterior, interior, engine, headache rack(huh ???) etc.
Very nice LJ FIX, the off-road performance of the LJ's is amazing, you should install a locker in the rear axle to make it unstopable. What does FIX stand for if I may be bold to ask?
Well that is news to me, congrats, you must have a very special 70 there, what seems to be extra in your's that the SX or LX don't have ? Maybe post your VIN plate numbers here so we can drool over all the info !
Nice Cruiser Oldcars, I had a similar Cruiser (first Cruiser ever), but a 1987 model. Isn't that the SX5, can remember that a 70 ever recieved a VX badge ? That coil sprung suspension made it unstoppable, would love one again !
Very nice BJ, it looks pretty standard to me. Leave the shackles as is, otherwise it looks too much like an road car. What did you do to the engine exactly ??
]Yes Ducatiman, I love the Cruiser with the top off. And yes, without the top there is a huge difference in this regards. Summer is almost with us here in the Garden Route of ZA, this the top comes off every summer !
Here is some pics taken last summer, in the mean time all dents taken out and...
Lifted ± 3", running 33"BFG, but it isn't just my findings, it has been proven in severe working conditions here on all sorts of open casts mines. They tend to move away from the 79 and rather go with regular pick-ups for safty reasons.
Have a convession, since getting the 60, my 74 became my 2nd choice vehicle. It is just that it tip's over too easily, needed a wider wheelbase. The 60 is just awesum, not much off roading done with it yet.
My concern with the 70's centre of gravity wich is high and also the narrow wheelbase...
Nice rides, don't forget to keep the photies comming !
Peacefull Sunday drive to the picnic site next to a stream.
Giving the BJ74 some pedal to the metal for this dune. Nice action shot huh?
I love this truck, proudly showing the colours of the Land Cruiser Club on the back.
Thanks Glen & Boogie, will search for the correct one or go with the conversion of deleting the booster. I can fit the 75series pick-up master cylinder and then just blank off the vacuum piping. Wíll let you know.

Got contact through alibaba.com as you suggested, how did you only get 1...
I suppose you need to remove the C/B first, or can it be done still attached to the vehicle & pedal?
I'am finding it difficult to get somebody to repair this for me, so need to know as much as possible please. If inside the cab, how do I take it off, seems I need to do this on my own with help...
