    FJ60 for Sale SoCal: Non-OP w/CA

I have to lose my FJ60, 1985. Needs too much work for me to fix it. as I am forced to move from a 30 year residence. It needs a valve job; been parked just over 2 years. I put stabilizer in the tank ever 6 months. Pros: ARB bumper on front, Ramsey winch. 2" Man-A-Fre lift springs...

    2f head installation

Do you retorque the head when it is hot? This is what Man-A-Fre says they are going to do when they adjust the valves...head is still original w/199k miles. Seems weird to me, but the last rebuild of a car I did (which involved r/r a head) was a 1957 Borgward, and the only other one was a CB...

Putting my 3FE back together this weekend

I have a question: Man-A-Fre wants to retourqe my cylinder head hot when doing a valve adjustment!? Doe this make sense? I would think you would get too high a torque that way, when the engine cools. I can never find anytihing like this in manuals...

    Hot?

Thermostat What I heard/read is if you remove the thermostat, you starve the rear water gallery, and can overheat #6. Don't know if that's fact, but I think a mechanic @ Man-A-Fre said that as well, but I don't recall exactly where I got that info. I'm thinking mine is the sender/spliced...

    Hot?

Even if it were clogged, I don't see how just connecting it, and having it off, would restrict the flow. When I did hook it up, it worked great. When I first connected it, I ran water through it, and it flow w/o a problem; I don't need it, but it bugs me when stuff doesn't work. I forgot...

    Hot?

What gauge did you get? My temp is just bizarre. I have a 1985 FJ60; it was just fine until I paid out over $3k to get it to pass smog. Ever since it has had erratic temp readings. Weirdness is that it is fine around town; gets to 3/4 on the fwy @ 60/65; shows cooler (almost down to 1/2) when I...

    Gas tanks woes...

I have one (was new 2 or 3 years ago) from my FJ 60 that I replaced with a Long Range tank from Man-A-Fre, but I don't think I can ship it to you, as it has a little gas in it. It was replaced under the recall about 2 or 3 years ago, and within a couple of months of that, I installed the...

Mean Green Starter or OEM Starter

Starter decision I have an '85 FJ60; the starter probably need new contacts, from what I have read. This is my only vehicle with 4 wheels, so I have to drive it every day. I still need to decide on rebuilt or Mean Green. I the deciding factor is reliability. I can buy either one, but will...

    snorkel install question

I bought an extra aircleaner and paid $200.00 to have the snout moved to the passenger's side. I then discovered I had to find a 3" piece of tubing to connect the air intake to the snorkel hose. I fouund a stainless steel hand soap dispenser @ Target, cut the top and bottom off with a...
