G'day All,
Recently changed careers and to celebrate I decided to get a Holden 304 efi V8 & 5 spd box swapped into my 40 to push the bigger tyres etc.

Naturally enough I was a bit concerned as to where I...
The Triple wipers not only look cool but they actually work better too. They're hard to come by even over here. I got lucky but a few of my mates have been looking since I got put mine on about a year ago with out any luck...
Have thought about a stroked holden v8 but I've had a couple in some of my road cars and I'm not a huge fan so most likely it'll be a Chev. I think you're right about the reduction gears in the t-case though. That way when everyone else is running 37's, I'll be right to run 38's
I have thought about it, or even a set of reduction gears for the t-case from Marks adaptors but my plans include swapping a chev v8 into the 40 sometime in the next year or two. So I'm thinking I'll wait and see how it goes then. In the mean time the 2f is quite a grunty one & seems to get the...
Our cameraman Lawrence (He owns the Mustard 40 in the video's) has just uploaded the second part of that day out.
Here's the link.

The chains really chew the tracks up & are generally frowned upon so most people tend not to run them. The Pede's aren't a bad alternative though.

Just running the standard = 2f, 4spd box & 4.11 gears.
Loses a little bit of punch in high range on the road but nothing to drastic and the rubber overdrive is great when you have to hall a bit of distance on the roads. As you can see in the video I dont have any trouble spinning them up in...
G'day All,
I lashed out & bought myself a set of 36" Simex Extreme Trekker II's for the 40. Cut the Guards, Bolt em up & away I go I thought - Wrong.
First up I had to get a new Rear Bar made up because the OEM couldn't handle the weight. Next I had to swap out the the Lokka for an ARB...
In Oz Toyota sold either the post 1980 or 1982 FJ40's as FJ42 for the swb & FJ47 for the Troopy. The models were distinguished by disc brake front ends, power steering (on some), relocated fuel tank & a few other things. But essentially they were the same thing (no difference in wheel base). It...
I have half doors off a 72 on my 78 in the warmer months. Just had to drill a couple of holes a bit further out board to mount the striker so that they work right.
Most of the smoke was caused by the transfer case tearing in half, but the jury is still out on what the smoke coming out the snorkle was caused by. The 2f hasn't been touched since & still runs strong.
Once again the camera doesn't do the slope justice it is bloody steep & very slippery as...
Watch this video at about 4:40 you can see the damage.

Wasn't that much. A new windscreen frame, new rear springs & an LED tail light. Plus a few new dents in the door.
Depends on how low the centre of gravity is on your 40 but if you're not rushing things 45 degrees usually ok. That being said I've got a mate who can roll his on level ground
A mate of mine had something similar that came with his 40, looked very ordinary & the first time he took it off road he bent the ends back. Now that he's cut the ends off it looks heaps better & it's a lot more practical too. I'd look at something else if were me.
The Body lift was a custom job & I really have no idea what it may cost in your part of the world. If you do go ahead with it make sure that you use the right stuff ie - high tensile bolts & polyeurathane blocks cause home made stuff wont cut it if you're off road.
As for the CV boots - I had...
A Body lift uses spacer blocks & longer bolts to lift the entire body up from the chassis (2" inches in this case). A suspension lift uses the suspension componants to create the lift ie. coils springs.
The advantage of a body lift is that it improves tyre clearance, approach & departure...
