    Thermostat housing question

Cleaning my thermostat housing I noticed the pitting on the smaller hose outlet is looking pretty bad. Anyone think I can just fill in the putting with solder? I just want to make sure water doesn't leak, I do realize the solder won't really strengthen it. Your thoughts?
