Thanks, fellas. Rigger, that's interesting because I just got an oil change/service before the trip at Jiffy Lube (I know...I was in a hurry), and it makes me wonder if those dudes just topped of the tranny oil and called it good. Hmmmm....
Was driving down to the coast (Austin to Port Alto) this past weekend into a 15-20 head wind in rolling hills. Had two kayaks strapped to the top. The wind was killing me and I had a hard time maintaining 60 mph. The AT oil light comes on, so I stopped and let it idle until the light went off. I...
How did you attach the rod carrier to the roof rack? Looking to do that too. Been thinking of different ways, but would like to hear about your technique. Thanks.
Talking about the rubber pad that surrounds the rear lock.

Haven't attempted yet, but was told it's snap ring and the lock slides out (thanks to the gimpey one).
Hello---Anyone have one of these that isn't $42?
It's the rubber pad thing that goes around the rear door lock. Scroll down, mid page.

Thanks!
Update: Got my reverse lights working again with just a simple adjustment of the NSS as suggested. Unbolted, readjusted, and re-bolted. That's it. Life can be so simple sometimes. Time for a !
New problem ('89): My reverse lights come on with the brake applied when in gear, but as soon as I let go of the brake and begin to reverse, the lights turn off. Any ideas what this could be?
I just put on 15x8 (3.75 bs) series 52 rock crawlers (flat black) on my 62 and had to grind the calipers. Not a big deal, as the grinding was minimal. And since I had the wheels in hand, there was no way I was going to return them and wait another week for another order...just had to put them...
Went with the same exact wheel...running 31's. Had to grind the calipers on my 62 for these to fit. No worries though...worth it to me as I think they look great. Not sure why on the grind...maybe I have different calipers or maybe they differ from a 60 to a 62??? Whatever the case, I'm stoked!
Sweet rig! Your wheels look awesome. I want to do the same thing. Did you have to get the chrome stripped off before the powder coat application? What kind of finish is that? Thanks!
OK, I've searched and can't find a consensus as to what is the best way to go for installing a trailer wiring harness for a FJ62 . Is a powered converter really necessary for standard/light towing? Some say yes, some say no. The splice route is much easier...and cheaper.
Whataya think?
Oops...got so caught up in my rant (advice I should take myself), and the order has already been placed!:beer::beer::beer:! Hope it turned out sweet!
Keep her stock. You've got yourself a great looking rig. Sounds like one we'd all love to have. Like some others have said...buy a beater and start a new project. Think about all the other cool stuff you can do to your 2nd cruiser! I know I want one! Plus, you don't sound 100% about it, I think...
Looks like a pretty clean rig...looks like that is. Definitely take into consideration what everyone is saying here. If you can, have someone check it out with you. Two sets of eyes are always better than one. Good luck and hope you score it! Looks like a beast!
