Looking for FJ40 or 60 spring over housings or axles. Thinking about changing some things up on the 71. Bolt in would be awesome, but if I can’t find something I’ll mess with the housings under it.
Gary, I do still have the 99 4Runner, but holding onto it for the time being.
Oh, that will take me several weeks. Should be around 10 pallets of block, a Tri-axle of clean backfill stone, perforated drainage pipe, and a couple rolls of Geo-grid to lock it all together. Good part is we are already scraped down to good bedrock base, just need to level things up. Waiting...
It’s amazing what 6 well accomplished framers can get done in a couple days.
You can see on the right side we have a decent embankment, so I will be building a 120’ long 4’ high retaining wall in the next few weeks.
Thanks Gary.
Framing has begun!!
On an FJ40 note, looking for a 2.5” lift that rides nice. Any recommendations? Was kicking this kit around:

Been busy with land clearing and getting the driveway cut in and house site ready. Layout and excavation in the next few weeks then foundation.
If anyone wants/needs firewood, let me know :)
Also took the FJ40 out for a spin and it is running like a top with the new intake and sensors I installed.
Nothing new with the Toyotas, been too busy with work and adding several new staff, as well as clearing the house site. Started off overgrown and very difficult to walk through, but getting there. The JD 850 has been running like a top and making things a bit easier. Probably 16 more trees to...
Unfortunately no. Pulled the battery to put in the John Deere 850 and have been clearing land for the new house and shop. We are also in the full swing of the three kids sports and I tripled the size of my group at work, so have little free time and ambition to get it running right.
Almost seems like I could adjust the throttle up and it would run better. Need to fire it up again and drive it to see what else it is doing.
Definitely not swapping from EFI to a carb 😆
I have a brand new 38” PB Maddog sitting in the garage. Fits a 17” rim. Only downside is a gouge in the sidewall, occurred in shipping. Has never been mounted.
Fuel pump sock was intact, but brittle. Replaced with the new pump. Tank looked remarkably clean, so no issue there.
Unplugged the AFM and it started, but died after a second or two. Checked the wiring on the plug and all good there too. Swapped in another AFM and no change.
Will run with a...
Most of the fuel is newer, but still a few months old
Fuel is returning to the tank, made a small mess when pulling the line of the pump bracket when I replaced the pump.
New fuel filter when I replaced the pump. I have another AFM here and will swap it, as well as make sure everything is pinned right. It should start if I disconnect it since it won’t sense the motor pulling air and then actuate the fuel pump. No MAF like on a more modern motor.
Distributor...
It starts and runs without the cold start, but runs rough. Has hesitation when you give it throttle. Also sprayed brake cleaner around the intake and air tube, no change.
This also was a very smooth running motor with plenty of power before it started losing power and couldn’t get up a small...
