Haven't been on here much lately. Sold my 80 for a Tundra. Think Hank that was on here way back is service Mgr at Lenz trucks in Fond Du lac. He had offered to do my 80's Head gasket. Traded it in instead. Hope the poor SOB that bought it got a drive train warranty. Think I may still have the...
I'm getting quotes on mine right now too. House is 7 years old and the roof is shot. Apparently the manufacturer (Certainteed) may have known they were selling junk. Class action suit being formed. Just need to decide if I can wait as long as the courts will drag it out or take the $ offered...
Who knows in the end. Paperwork said $5K but it is all part of the deal.
80 had issues too. No lockers, original head gasket (141K miles), P0141 light up, exhaust due for replacement, A/C not functioning and a small dent in the tailgate from backing into trailer. Otherwise a nice solid truck.
Traded the 80 in yesterday. Best truck I ever had. Bought it off a drug dealer, cheap. Got about 50k miles on it in the 5+ years I had it. Didn't have to do too much but it was beginning to show the wear. Hope the new owner gets a drive train warranty as it still has the original head gasket...
Traded in on an 08 Tundra. Hated to see it in the back of the car lot today. Best truck I ever owned.
Put a few leftover bits on ebay today to ease the pain. FSM and some good old style oil filter bought before the supply dried up.
Hope ya'll have a wonderful life. Guess I am out now.
You can have mine but you gotta take the whole truck with it. Will take $5000. Dents in rear tailgate and original HG. Not leaking yet. Otherwise a very nice driving 97 CE. No Lockers
Nope not locked. Got a cup holder though!!
Gonna work on the brakes this week to stop the pulsations. Think I got a warped disk. or sense of humor... maybe both.
Looking at an 06 Tundra. Anyone interested in a 97 Collectors Edition w/ 140K, silver, trans just flushed, pulsing brakes? $6500. 30 minutes NW of Milwaukee.
Winter has been long and hard on me and the 80. Believe it is time to do the head gasket as I added 1/2 gallon of red juice the other day. 140K on it, so it needs a few other items too.
Figuring on the following:
Valve job
All cooling system hoses, incl. PHH
Plugs and wires
Radiator flush...
What race? The 500? or the 200? I will see planty of racing at the DIS but mostly the historic and vintage bikes is what I go for. Not really a big Neckcar fan, but will be watching it this weekend in my basement theater. Having a tropical themed party banana daquiri's and all.
Plan is to...
Sure was nice having the TLC this week! They plowed me in at work on Wed. but "Freewheelin' Franklin" (My 97CE) didn't even spin a tire blasting through the drift. Had up to 20" around us but I only had about 15" at my house. I have had just about enough winter for one season. Ready to head...

I have had some motorcycle stuff done at Kettle Morraine Coatings in Jackson, WI. An ex neighbor owns the place and takes care of me there. Not sure how they handle walk ins, but if you want black, I am fairly sure they would be good to work with. I was very happy with the quality. Other colors...
Milwaukee mechanic
So how did it go with you and your mech. doing the Birfs?
I could really use a good mechanic myself. Had a shop that I could use the rack and tools anytime I wanted, so I didn't really need anyone else. That guy went out of business, so now I am unable to do much of my own...
Guess I will get to meeet ya'll too. The wife has agreed to attend with me. We'll not bring the Cruiser though as the weather is too nice for that. We will be on a Moto Guzzi sidecar rig, big and red. I will be the old guy with grey hair and a ponytail. See you'se there
Hustisford
I have responded in a PM. Live about 15 miles from there and will assist the man if at all possible. In fact it may be a good reason to go 2 wheelin through the Kettles.
Not the cover but the main housing where the hinge pin for the cover is held. If it were just the cover I could replace it easily.
Think I'll try either epoxy or an aluminum strap to hold the hinge in. Don't believe the hinge needs to rotate in the housing, just in the cover, so epoxy may be...
I also ordered from etrailer.com, but mine is a 7 pin package.
Broke the first time I used it. The flapper doesn't fit tight now that the plastic hinge assy broke. Reported to etrailer and they say I can install another one.....at my expense. Guess they don't stand behind their products.
Not...
