I took the steering column apart and the removed the device on the back side of the key switch. I can use a screwdriver to turn this and crank the engine but it still won't start.
There is no spark coming from the coil when I crank it. Just behind the coil, there are three green wires each with...
I found another fj40 for parts and was wondering how I could start it without the key. I can apply power to the starter and crank it, but do I only have to apply power to the coil for the spark.
Even if it doesn't run the frame and cowl are good and the windshield frame is rust free. Not bad...
I don't want to rain on any parade but split wheels have been outlawed in many parts of Canada.
On a good note, I have found the proper wheels at Canadian Tire of all places. Get the counter guy to go on their Keystone order site.
The size I got was 16x8" 6x5.5 with 4 inch BS. Also...
Hey there Cowboy.
This is a little off your topic, but a super easy way to resize pictures is to get

just right click your pic and select the size you want. No muss no fuss. For a MS product...
This is great info, thanks. I have 3 fj40s now and even more parts, all are buggy materal so I can afford to do some experimenting without worrying about breaking something.
My goal is to have something good for heavy and deep mud.
So, for example.
If I were to put my front axle under my springs, a spring reversal would make it a bit gentler on the front driveline because the angle of the driveshaft would not be as great.
Also, it I left the fixed end of the spring where it is at the back, I would not get as much...
I am a complete noob but isn't the only purpose of flipping springs is to bring down the departure angle.
And I thought you also were suposed to move the shackle also so it would be less likley to get caught on something
I move allot of equipment and trailers, and the ones with a hand 'park' brake are great. It seems they are mostly on gen-set trailers. It does feel reassuring when you leave a trailer and know it is not going to roll away.
That is about the length of my tent trailer. It looks like you are running about 33" tyres, have you always towed on this type. I think they would be a little soft and might sway with a load on them.
