I have a 2000 100- series with 4.7 with 297,000 miles. I’ve only run 5w conventional oil for the entire life of the vehicle. It doesn’t burn a drop of oil, and has no leaks.

I just got a 2000 LC with 293K. Transmission has never been opened up. Was cared for by an old school Toyota mechanic who told the owner to never open it up unless problems arose.
No leaks and it shifts well with no problems.
Leave it as is? Or open it up to change out fluid?
I’m afraid I’ve done some damage that I can’t see. I’ve tried resetting into place about 6-8 times. Last two have no connection at all. Even though the couplings are joining up. I’m just skeptical driving it to the shop without any gauges whatsoever.
All I’m doing is making it worse I guess. I’ve pulled it out and reseated it three times and now I can’t get any lights and no tach. Nothing like creating a larger repair out of a $.79 lightbulb.
Am I safe to drive it with no tach, or will it error to the transmission?
