Tear it all back apart. Just did this. There is a 1” rubber o-ring inside the distributor shaft. Mine was rock hard.
Simple and easy fix. Hardest is marking with a black sharpie the distributor position and reinstall the same way so your timing remains “in-time”

1997 with 213,000 miles
Gas gauge worked, next day stayed on empty, then slowly rose to full. Full back to empty and now remains on empty.
Amber empty tank light is not on, as I still have a full tank.
P0401 EGR code- been on for 10,000 miles.
Option 1 - $35 buck install HuddExpo EGR plug and ignore the code?

Option 2 - pick up my $200 worth of parts at Will Call. Tear apart Intake manifold, gas/air intake. Clean out carbon. Install new gaskets and vacuum lines?

Exact same issue here. 1997 80. I noticed one day backing over a 6" curb.
If you put it in 4low no issues. I also greased ujoints, maybe helped.
I have had 40,000 additional miles since hearing.
Keep me posted what you find.
Slowly work it out with a grease based compound, flush out crud that may be built up.
Us a soft drift or carefully use screwdriver.
